Baseball America is reporting that Vanderbilt will add Norristown Pennsylvania native Chris Harvey to the team. The 6’4 220 pound catcher was committed to the Vanderbilt squad for the 2013 season but ended up speeding up his high school education to enroll one year early.
Harvey was considered one of the top high school catchers heading into the 2012 MLB Draft but now will have to wait until 2014 when he will be eligible again. We expect Harvey to start a majority of the games behind the plate for the Commodores who lost Curt Casali to graduation.
