Texas A&M CC Jake Dziubczynski gets a New Look

WMU Assistant Coach Brent Alwine Seriously Injured

Western Michigan Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Brent Alwine was seriously injured in a Friday evening around 6:15pm. He is currently in critical but stable condition in the hospital. Bethune-Cookman’s Peter O’Brien set to transfer to Miami

Former UM broadcaster Justin Antweil has confirmed the Internet Reports that Bethune-Cookman catcher Peter O’Brien will be transferring to Miami. (Link) O’Brien was one of the top catchers in the country in 2011 at Bethune-Cookman while being selected in the third round by the Rockies. He was not able to come to an agreement with team making him eligible to return to school. He is expected to appeal to the NCAA for a waiver to become eligible for the 2012 season.  Read the rest of this entry »

Joe Morgan’s Life in Baseball

Former Boston College baseball and hockey standout Joe Morgan was featured in a recent Boston College magazine article by Dan Barry. Morgan played for the Eagle baseball and hockey programs graduating in 1953 from the school in Chestnut Hill. He decided to pursue a baseball career in which he made his MLB debut in 1959. Morgan ended up playing four years in the Majors with five different teams but never becoming an everyday player. Read the rest of this entry »

LSU releases 2012 Schedule

The LSU Tigers have released their 2012 schedule on their official website. The Tigers are coming off a 36-20 and 13-17 mark in SEC play in 2011 as they missed the 2011 NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers will open the season on February 17th when they host Air Force. They will play Alcorn State the next day before facing Air Force again on the 19th. After a midweek matchup against McNeese State, they will host Appalachian State for a three game set on February 24th-26th.  Read the rest of this entry »

Texas A&M set to move out of Big 12

Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin sent a letter to Big 12 board chairperson and current Missouri chancellor Brady Deaton that they will withdraw from the Big 12 conference according to Pete Thamel of the New York Times. The Aggies are expected to make the formal announcement in the near future as early as Tuesday that they have withdrawn from the conference.  Read the rest of this entry »

Troy Trojans Release 2012 Schedule

Auburn releases 2012 Schedule

Coming off of a second consecutive SEC Tournament appearance, the Auburn baseball team will play a total of 32 games against teams that advanced to the 2011 NCAA Tournament during the upcoming season as head coach John Pawlowski released the 2012 schedule on Monday. Of the 32 games against NCAA Tournament participants, 16 will come at Plainsman Park while 21 of them will be played from April 1 through May 19. Read the rest of this entry »

MLB teams running Dry?

La Velle E. Neal III of The Star-Tribune took to task the MLB Draft in his weekly column for the paper. As he states in the article, MLB teams committed 17 percent more to 2011 MLB Draft picks when compared to 2010. Interesting enough, Bud Selig wants to set up a hard slotting system for the draft to avoid the last hour of signings that happens yearly. Read the rest of this entry »

Texas Tech’s Rusty Shellhorn readies for his Chance

Britton Drown, of Texas Tech Media Relations, wrote a good article on Texas Tech junior LHP Rusty Shellhorn. He had to set out the 2011 season as he was transferring from Washington State where he played two years under Don Marbut.
