2012 MAAC Baseball Championships to be hosted by Siena College

For the first time in 14 years, the MAAC Baseball Championships will be contested in the Capital Region. The conference released its 2011-12 Championship schedule today, indicating Siena College would host the next baseball championships May 24-27 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy.

USC adds Dan Hubbs to Coaching Staff

LOS ANGELES–Former USC All-American pitcher Dan Hubbs, who was the pitching coach at California the past 12 years, has been named the Trojans’ pitching coach and associate head coach, USC head coach Frank Cruz announced today (July 11).

Cotuit Kettleers 8 Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox 2

Victor Roache went 2-4 with a homer and four RBI to lead the Kettleers to a 8-2 victory over the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. The victory was picked up by Georgia Southern’s Chris Beck who went seven innings giving up four hits and two runs (one earned). Aric Thomas returns to Oklahoma Coaching Staff

NORMAN, Okla. – Aric Thomas is returning to the University of Oklahoma where he spent 11 seasons as a player and coach. Sooner Head Coach Sunny Golloway announced Thomas’ return to the staff on Saturday after he spent the last seven years as the head coach at Eastern Oklahoma State College. 2011 Northwoods League All-Star Game Rosters Released

The Northwoods League has announced the rosters for the 2011 Northwoods League All-Star Game, which will be played on Monday, July 18th at 7:05 pm (CT) at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.

The Eau Claire Express and Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers are the South and North Division teams, respectively, that will be represented by the most players. Both teams finished in second place in the standings during the first half of the season. Eau Claire had seven players voted to the South Division roster, including two catchers. Nolan Clark (Yavapai) and Zac Fisher (New Mexico State) join Wisconsin Woodchuck Carlos Escobar, Jr. (Nevada) as the trio of catchers voted to the South squad. Escobar is the NWL’s leading hitter with a .374 batting average. Brainerd Lakes Area will send six players to the All-Star Game including the League’s top pitcher at the mid-point of the season. Left-hander Joe Willman (Northern Colorado) touts a league-best 0.75 ERA and a 4-0 record through 36 innings. Read the rest of this entry »

2011 Florida Collegiate League All-Star Game Rosters Released

The Florida League announces the 2011 Florida League All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 12 at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium. This past week, coaches and league officials voted on the players who they believe have shined the brightest through the first half of the summer. The ballots are in and the 2011 Florida League All-Stars have been selected.

Some of the notable selections for the two All-Star teams are Leesburg’s Thomas Sicking (Texas Pan-American) who leads the Florida League in hitting (.423 avg, 11 RBI), Winter Park’s Teddy Blackman (Coastal Carolina: .377 avg, .563 obp, 14 SB), the Florida League’s leader in wins, Jeremy Strawn (State College of Florida: 3-0, 2.02 ERA), and Nic Kovacs (Lake Sumter: 2-1, 13:1 strikeout to walk ratio).
