On July 27, 2011 the NECBL will hold its 18th annual All-Star Game at Fraser Field Lynn, MA. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM. North Division wins 2011 Northwoods League All-Star Game

The North Division of the Northwoods League won the Marshfield Clinic Northwoods League All-Star Game on Monday night at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids. UConn’s John Andreoli having success in Cape Cod League

Heading into the 2011 season, the real talk around the UConn program was the fact they had two absolute studs in George Springer and Matt Barnes. Both of these young men went in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft to the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox respectively. The rest of the Huskies squad was extremely talented including outfielder John Andreoli. He ended up finishing the year with a .317 average with 31 RBI as he started all 66 games for the Huskies. In the 2011 MLB Draft, the Cubs selected him in the 17th round.  Read the rest of this entry »

Walters State RHP Chris Costantino tosses No-Hitter in NECBL

Chris Costantino (Walters St CC) became the fifth player in New England Collegiate Baseball League history to throw a no-hitter, as he cruised past the first-place Keene Swamp Bats Sunday night to a 7-0 victory.

Costantino allowed no hits while striking out nine Swamp Bats, improving his league-high total to 41 strikeouts this season. Keene had four men reach base Sunday night; two on walks, one on a fielder’s choice and one on a passed ball on a swinging strikeout. Read the rest of this entry »

Ryan Wheeler named Head Coach at Temple

PHILADELPHIA – Ryan Wheeler, who has 15 years of Division I coaching experience including the last five as an assistant at Richmond, has been named the head baseball coach at Temple University, announced TU’s Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring on board a high-caliber person such as Ryan Wheeler to take over the reins of the Temple Baseball program,” Bradshaw said. “Ryan is one of the most respected assistant coaches in the East, and has the skill set and passion to take our program to new heights.” Read the rest of this entry »

Construction Begins On New SMC Baseball Stadium

San Jose State’s Sam Piraro Awarded New 3-Year Contract

San Jose, Calif.—–Sam Piraro, the winningest baseball coach in San Jose State’s 100-plus year history, agreed to a new three-year contract through the 2014 season. Athletics director Tom Bowen made the announcement.

Piraro recently completed his 24th season as the Spartans’ head coach directing the Spartans to a 35-26 overall win-loss record. He ranks 29th nationally among active NCAA Division I baseball coaches with 784 coaching victories.
