Update #1: Eddie Smith will be named an assistant coach at Santa Clara according to multiple sources.
Virginia Assistant Baseball Coach Eddie Smith has left the Cavs baseball program to pursue other opportunities according to sources close to the situation. Smith was in charge of the day-to-day development of position players and hitters while serving as the team’s first base coach. He also assisted with on-campus recruiting and other administrative duties.
Smith had been a member of the Cavs coaching staff for the last four seasons as an assistant coach and before that served as the Director of Baseball Operations at Virginia.
He will be added to another coaching staff in the near future.
