Texas releases 2011 Fall Schedule; Vanderbilt highlights Schedule

The Texas Longhorns coming off an appearance in the 2011 College World Series has released their 2011 fall schedule. They will host the Houston Cougars on visit Austin on October 16th. The Vanderbilt Commodores will then make their second straight fall appearance in Austin on October 22nd and 23rd. Virginia Assistant Coach Eddie Smith Leaves Program

Update #1: Eddie Smith will be named an assistant coach at Santa Clara according to multiple sources.

Virginia Assistant Baseball Coach Eddie Smith has left the Cavs baseball program to pursue other opportunities according to sources close to the situation. Smith was in charge of the day-to-day development of position players and hitters while serving as the team’s first base coach. Clemson’s Jack Leggett Signs Five-Year Contract Extension Through 2016

Clemson, SC – Clemson Baseball Head Coach Jack Leggett signed a new five-year contract, Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips announced on Friday. Leggett, who has served as head coach for 18 seasons (1994-11), signed a contract that will run through the 2016 season. It represents a two-year extension from his previous contract. 2011 CCBL All-Star Game Recap: East Division defeats West 4-1

The Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star is usually a showcase for the best college baseball talent in the country and this year was more of the same.

Taylor Rogers (Kentucky) picked up the win as he gave up a first inning run as Travis Jankowski (Stony Brook) scored the opening run of the game on a Eric Stamets (Evansville) bunt single. The throw to third base from first baseman Ben Waldrip (Jacksonville State) fly into the stands allowing Jankowski to score from second base. Brent Shelton added to Southern Miss Coaching Staff

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss head baseball coach Scott Berry announced Friday the appointment of Brent Shelton as an assistant coach.

Shelton comes to Southern Miss after spending the previous five seasons as an assistant for coach Jeff Johnson at Chipola College where he served as recruiting coordinator, as well as coordinating administrative duties and working with the Indian hitters and infielders.
