Florida wins Game 1 of Gainesville Super Regional

Sophomore Mike Zunino (Cape Coral, Fla.) drove in three runs and Florida (49-16) scored in each of the first five innings to defeat Mississippi State (37-24), 11-1, in the opening game of the best-of-three NCAA Gainesville Super Regional on Friday afternoon at McKethan Stadium. Game two will be on Saturday at noon and be shown nationally on ESPN, with the Gators needing one more victory to punch the program’s seventh ticket to the NCAA College World Series. 2011 Nashville Super Regional Preview: Oregon State vs. Vanderbilt

Both teams have the lineups and intangibles to make noise if they were to get to Omaha, and the biggest downer is that only one will make it to the College World Series.
For Vanderbilt (50-10), the Super Regional concludes a week that saw twelve of their players drafted in the MLB Draft, including Sonny Gray and Grayson Garvin, who were selected in the first round. The goal for the Commodores will be keeping those distractions out of their mind as they face an Oregon State (41-17) team that has been one of Division I’s most successful in the post-season since 2006. 2011 NCAA Santa Clara Super Regional: Dallas Baptist vs Cal
The Cal Bears will host the 2011 Super Regional matchup against Dallas Baptist at Santa Clara University. Cal won the Houston Regional by going on a four game winning streak losing to Baylor in their opener before fighting through the loser’s bracket which included beating Baylor twice. Dallas Baptist went 3-1 in the Fort Worth Regional eliminating two 2010 CWS particpants in Oklahoma and TCU before losing to Oral Roberts. 2011 NCAA Columbia Super Regional Preview: UConn vs South Carolina
The Columbia Super Regionals features an underdog in UConn taking on the 2010 CWS Champion South Carolina. UConn is coming off four straight wins to grab the Clemson Regional after losing their opener to Coastal Carolina. 2011 NCAA Charlottesville Super Regional: UC-Irvine vs Virginia

UC Irvine and Virginia will face off in the Charlottesville Super Regional June 11-13 at UVa’s Davenport Field. The teams will play at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 1, 4 or 7 p.m. (all times EST) Monday (if necessary). All three games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks.
