2011 NCAA Regional Preview: Fullerton

Cal-State Fullerton

After shuffling their lineup throughout the season due to injury (15 batters started in 14 games or more), the Fullerton Titans are primed for a postseason run and attempt to make it to their 6th College World Series in the last decade. The Titans have sent out a ton of inexperienced players this season, yet finished the year with a 40-15 record and won the Big West yet again at a 19-5 clip. 2011 NCAA Regional Preview: Charlottesville

Several interesting story lines mark the 2011 Charlottesville Regional. St John’s is returning to Charlottesville where they almost pulled the upset last season forcing the 5th overall national seed Virginia to an elimination game. The ECU Pirates return to Charlottesville where they played the Cavaliers tough in a three game series the second week of the season, losing the three game set 2-1, including a one-run loss on Saturday. Navy will be making its first appearance in Charlottesville since a 17-1 loss back in March of 2009. This will be Virginia’s fifth time hosting an NCAA Regional since 2004. Nebraska hires Darin Erstad as Head Coach

Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne has announced that Darin Erstad has been hired as the head coach of the Husker baseball program.

“Darin is very passionate about Nebraska and especially our baseball program,” Osborne said. “Nobody is going to work harder than Darin. He showed that both here at Nebraska and in Major League Baseball, and that will be the same as our head coach.” Read the rest of this entry »
