GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami looked to be heading home early Sunday afternoon, but a late rally overcame a three-run deficit to defeat Jacksonville, 6-3, at McKethan Stadium in the Gainesville [Fla.] Regional of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

2011 NCAA Charlottesville Regional: Day 2 Recap

Charlottesville, VA.-  The Navy Midshipmen were the first to depart falling in the first elimination game of the Regional on Saturday. East Carolina kept in season alive with the 6-1 win over Navy and will face St. John’s in the second elimination game Sunday at 1:00 PM. The Cavaliers improve to 2-0 in the Regional based on back-to-back solid pitching performances by Will Roberts and Danny Hultzen. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – In a span of three-consecutive pitches in the seventh inning, No. 2 UCF scored five runs and eventually plated 13 runs in the final three innings to defeat No. 4 Bethune-Cookman, 16-5, in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional Saturday. NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont baseball team (37-25) eliminated Oklahoma State (35-25) from the Nashville Regional with a 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.  It marks the first ever win for a Belmont University team in any sport in the NCAA Tournament.  Sophomore Chase Brookshire (Chattanooga, Tenn.) allowed just two hits and one earned run in eight innings pitched. The Fresno State Bulldogs were “rewarded” for their WAC Regular Season and Tournament Titles with a #2 seed at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
