Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham University Executive Director of Athletics Frank McLaughlin announced today that head baseball coach Nick Restaino has decided to pursue other opportunities and will not return for the 2011-12 season.

“We are extremely thankful for Nick’s hard work and dedication to the Fordham baseball program,” said McLaughlin. “We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

Restaino just completed his seventh season at Fordham, leading the Rams to a 31-23-1 overall record, 12-11-1 in the Atlantic 10. The Rams came up short of qualifying for the Atlantic 10 Championship, falling to Xavier in the last game of the season.

Fordham, which has the oldest and winningest NCAA Division I baseball program with 4,074 all-time victories, will immediately begin a national search for a replacement.

“We are committed to having a tremendously successful baseball program and will work hard to find the next Fordham head coach,” said McLaughlin.
