We are fortunate enough to host one of the eight Super Regionals this weekend, as Oregon State comes to Nashville for the three-game series starting Friday night (8 pm EST on ESPNU). It is the first time in Vanderbilt’s history that we have hosted a Super Regional, so we are all very excited to witness the atmosphere at Hawkins Field tomorrow night. Our fans helped sell-out each of our regional games at the Hawk last weekend against Belmont and Troy, so we plan on seeing just as good of a turnout this weekend as well.

It’s crazy to think that we are one of only sixteen remaining teams in college baseball. Every team works all fall and spring to put themselves in position to play for a chance to get to Omaha, and we are privileged enough to have that opportunity this weekend.

Much of the college baseball talk this week has been about the MLB amateur draft, which concluded yesterday. There were 12 Commodores selected over the three-day event, which set a record for an SEC team. Even though we are all excited about the selections, there has been little to no talk at all about the draft. We are all focused on the task at hand Friday night, with the understanding that the draft process will work itself out after the season. That’s one of the strengths of this team—each guy worries about his teammates before he worries about himself.

At the end of Monday night, there will be eight teams left in college baseball. Hopefully we can play well enough to put ourselves in position to be one of those eight.

Until next week—Go ’Dores
