2011 NCAA Regional Preview: Tallahassee

Florida State (42-17, 19-11 ACC)

Players to Watch
James Ramsey (.350 BA, 10 HR, 62 RBI)
Jayce Boyd (.333 BA, 5 HR, 53 RBI)
Mike McGee (.333 BA, 10 HR, 51 RBI)

Pitchers to Watch
Sean Gilmartin (11-1, 1.52 ERA)
Daniel Bennett (3-1, 2.19 ERA)

Why they will win: FSU is playing on their home field in a Regional again. Dick Howser is one of the toughest environments in the country to play in. I think the Noles will roll through it through.

Central Florida (38-21, 12-12 C-USA)

Players to Watch
DJ Hicks (.343 BA, 13 HR, 62 RBI)
Jonathan Griffin (.332 BA, 18 HR, 53 RBI)

Pitchers to Watch
Nick Cicio (3-2, 2,32 ERA)
Johnny Sedlock (3-0, 1.91 ERA)

Why they will win: Central Florida went 2-0 against Florida while only going 1-2 when they faced off against the Noles in weekend play. THey will need to play much better then the last time they were in Tallahassee.

Alabama (33-26, 14-16 SEC)

Players to Watch
Taylor Dugas (.345 BA, 6 HR, 28 RBI)
Jarred Reaves (.336 BA, 4 HR, 44 RBI)

Pitchers to Watch
Nathan Kilcrease (7-4, 3.16 ERA)
Jonathan Smart (4-3, 2.48 ERA)

Why they will win: Alabama plays in the toughest conference in the country and has been successful enough to an at-large berth to the postseason. If they can find another quality pitcher besides Kilcrease and Smart, they can be a force to be reckoned with.

Bethune-Cookman (36-23, 18-0 MEAC)

Players to Watch
Brashad Johnson (.330 BA, HR, 29 RBI)
Peter O’Brien (.309 BA, 13 HR, 68 RBI)

Pitchers to Watch
Scott Garner (9-2, 2.07 ERA)
Patrick Goelz (8-3, 3.17 ERA)

Why they will win: Bethune-Cookman is among one of the best hitting teams in the country and will give a team fits in the Regional. I would be highly surprised if they made a Regional Final.
