CBD Article: Thoughts on New TD Ameritrade Park

TD Ameritrade Park hosted its first College World Series after Rosenblatt Stadium hosted it for the last 61 seasons over the last two weeks with the South Carolina Gamecocks winning the 2011 College World Series title over Florida.  Overall, I came away pretty impressed by the overall atmosphere of the new digs.  Here are some thoughts on the new ballpark.

There’s really not much to complain about the stadium, but my main beef is the actual visibility from the concourse level, particularly in the outfield.  Walking around the concourse and park during the Texas/Florida 6 PM matchup, I noticed a few things I didn’t like about the park. SPARTANBURG, SC – Wofford College baseball coach Todd Interdonato has announced that Jason Burke will be joining the staff as pitching coach. Burke was an assistant for the Terriers in 2006 and 2007 before spending the last four seasons at Gardner-Webb.

In 2011, Gardner-Webb advanced to the Big South Conference Tournament championship game. The school finished with a top-100 RPI for the first time in program history. The 34-23-1 record marked the program’s best season at the Division I level. Burke helped develop a strong bullpen that allowed Gardner-Webb to go 28-1-1 in games they held the lead in the eighth inning or later, and also tie the school record for saves in a season with 16.
