As the regular season comes to a close this weekend, we wrap up our schedule in Athens against the Georgia Bulldogs. It’s a big weekend for us because we are currently tied with South Carolina and Florida (20-7 conference record) atop the SEC standings with 3 games to play. Clemson, SC – Will Lamb had five of the Tigers’ season-high 23 hits in #15 Clemson’s 19-0 victory over Davidson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Tuesday night. In their last regular-season home game, the Tigers improved to 37-16 on the season. The Wildcats ended their season with an 18-30 record.
The Tigers put on an offensive show, as Clemson tied its season high for runs and tied a school record with a .523 batting average (23-for-44) in the game. It tied Clemson’s performance against Georgia Southern on March 12, 2002, when the Tigers were also 23-for-44 that day. The Fighting Leathernecks home season comes to an end this week as they take on the Redbirds of Illinois State this Tuesday. Former USF star taking on a New Challenge
Former South Florida baseball player Ryan Lockwood is taking on a new challenge now as he is preparing to become a Navy SEAL. Lockwood played three seasons under head coach Lelo Prado with his best season coming in 2008 when he had a 30 game hitting streak while being named a Freshman All-American. Last season, Coach Prado started receiving phone calls from Lockwood’s parents questioning what was going on with Ryan’s body as he was losing weight. Come to find out, Lockwood had started to prepare himself both mentally and physically to join the Navy SEAL program. Read the rest of this entry »

NCBWA May 16 Division I Poll

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 14th year with its 2011 weekly surveys. Polls will be circulated from Feb. 21-June 28 following the 65th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., at the new TD Ameritade Stadium.
2011 Division 3 Baseball Bracket Released

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee has announced the 55 teams that will compete in the 2011 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
Six teams will compete at four regional sites; seven teams will compete at one regional site; eight teams will compete at three regional sites. All regionals will use a double-elimination format. Thirty-eight conference champions qualified automatically. Read the rest of this entry »
Arizona State makes Appeal to NCAA
Arizona State is appealing their one year postseason ban today in Dallas, Texas. The Sun Devils had multiple major violations under former head coach Pat Murphy. ASU must prove in their hearing that it did not break NCAA rules, there was procedural error by the infractions committee or the penalties were “excessive and an abuse of discretion.” Read the rest of this entry »
