All-WAC Baseball Teams Announced

MESA, AZ – The Western Athletic Conference today released its 2011 all-WAC baseball teams and postseason awards as selected by the league’s head coaches. Fresno State junior outfielder Dusty Robinson was named the Player of the Year and Fresno State senior Greg Gonzalez earned Pitcher of the Year honors. The Freshman of the Year award went to Fresno State outfielder Aaron Judge. Hawai‘i’s Mike Trapasso was named WAC Coach of the Year.
Robinson, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif. (Centennial HS), batted .326 in conference play and led the WAC in home runs with six during league play. Ribera also earned First Team all-WAC honors.

Gonzalez, a senior from San Bruno, Calif. (Skyline JC), earned the WAC’s Pitcher of the Year award. Gonzalez made seven starts during conference play, registering a 1.52 ERA. He recorded a 4-0 record league play.

Judge, a native of Linden, Calif. (Linden HS), hit .414 during WAC play with five doubles, one triple, one home run and 13 RBI. He posted 10 walks and six stolen bases.

Trapasso, in his 10th season in charge of the Rainbows, was honored as the WAC Coach of the Year for the third time in his career. He also received the honor in 2004 and 2006. Trapasso led Hawai‘i to its first regular season WAC title since 1992 this season.
