#2 Vanderbilt 19 Tennessee 3

Nashville, Tenn, – Vanderbilt finished off a series sweep of Tennessee with a record setting 19-3 win Sunday at Hawkins Field.

The Commodores took an 8-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth when the offense exploded for a season-best 11 runs to balloon the lead to 19-0. The Dores sent 17 batters to the plate in the inning, collected nine hits and drew four walks. Anthony Gomez and Curt Casali had two hits in the inning and Connor Harrell launched his second pinch-hit home run of the weekend. The top three spots in the lineup scored six of the 11 runs in the frame.

On the day 14 Commodores received at least one at-bat with 11 posting at least one hit and six picking up two hits or more. Gomez led all players with four hits with Casali driving in a game-high four runs. Tony Kemp set a career-best with four runs scored and Sam Lind hit his first home run as a Commodore with a two-run shot in the second inning. Ethan Bennett paced the Vols with two of the team’s seven hits.

#3 South Carolina 7 Auburn 3

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Second ranked South Carolina tallied 12 base hits and scored in six innings on the way to a 7-3 victory over Auburn to sweep a three-game SEC baseball series. The Gamecocks have won all 11 series this year and are 35-8 and 17-4 in the SEC while Auburn drops to 23-21 and 9-12 in league play. South Carolina is in a three-way tie for first place in the SEC with Florida and Vanderbilt.

South Carolina freshman right-hander Forrest Koumas earned the win and is now 5-0 on the year. He allowed two runs on four hits in five innings with three strikeouts and two walks. Gamecock sophomore right-hander Matt Price hurled two scoreless innings to earn his 13th save of the season. Auburn junior left-hander Cory Luckie suffered the loss and is 1-2 for the season. He allowed three runs on three hits with five walks.

#5 Florida 7 Ole Miss 2

Sophomore Mike Zunino (Cape Coral, Fla.) was a career-best 4-for-4 with three doubles and four RBI and freshman right-hander Karsten Whitson (Chipley, Fla.) (6-0) twirled six scoreless innings to help No. 4 Florida (34-10/17-4 SEC) complete a three-game sweep of Ole Miss (24-20/9-12 SEC) with a 7-2 triumph on Sunday afternoon at McKethan Stadium.

It was the Gators’ first sweep of the Rebels since March 15-17, 2002 (24-5, 7-6, 17-6) and UF now has taken all three games from four different league foes (LSU, Tennessee, Alabama and Ole Miss) this season. Head coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s club has claimed its last seven SEC outings and is a riding a six-game winning streak.

Georgia 6 Arkansas 5

ATHENS—–With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Georgia’s Zach Cone was hit by a pitch that scored Peter Verdin and lifted the Bulldogs to a series-clinching 6-5 win over No. 14 Arkansas Sunday at Foley Field.

The improbable finish capped a three-run ninth-inning rally for the Bulldogs (24-21, 13-8 SEC), who won their sixth SEC series of the year. Arkansas fell to 29-13 and 10-11 in the SEC. Georgia won its SEC-leading 13th game against a top 25 opponent.

“Of all the great things we’ve done this year, we haven’t won like that so it was exciting,” Georgia head coach David Perno said. “To get a good inning in the ninth was huge.”
