Mariano Rivera Jr. will be attending Quinnipiac University in Hamden CT to continue his education. According to The Quinnipiac Chronicle, he will attempt to walk on the Bobcats baseball program in the fall as a pitcher. Shumate To Step Down As North Carolina A&T Head Baseball Coach

FROM CBD NEWS SOURCE

Greensboro, NC – An era in North Carolina A&T baseball will come to an end this summer. Effective July 31, Keith Shumate will no longer be the head baseball coach at N.C. A&T. Shumate offered his resignation to Director of Athletics Earl Hilton on Tuesday.

“This is certainly a sad day for North Carolina A&T Athletics.  We’re losing a great baseball coach and an even greater human being from our staff,” said Hilton. “While we hate to see him depart, we support Keith’s decision. He has a fantastic knowledge of the game, and we have certainly benefited from it over the years. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

CBD Journal with Western Illinois (April 19th)

Week two of conference play is in the books and the Necks are making some noise. We gave South Dakota State a couple of gifts last weekend, which hurt, but we had no time think about what could have been with Oral Roberts coming to town. Read the rest of this entry »

CBD Journal with Drew Fann (April 19th)

We went 2-2 last week, starting with a close midweek 1-0 win at Middle Tennessee State. T.J. Pecoraro had another strong start for us, and we were able to scratch across a run for him. We then traveled to Columbia for our series with South Carolina, where they won two of the three games. USC is a very good baseball team, and is even better playing at home behind about 10,000 fans each night. We were on the wrong end of a 3-1 pitcher’s duel Friday night, won 6-4 Saturday night thanks to Tony Kemp’s 5-for-5 hitting performance and lost 5-3 on Sunday. Jason Esposito hit three home runs this weekend to push his total to five on the year. We ended the first half of the SEC schedule 11-4 in the conference, one game behind South Carolina for the SEC East lead. Read the rest of this entry »

CBD Journal with Ray Ricker (April 19th)

Hello everyone. Sorry I have been a little erratic with the blog but it has been a crazy time. It seems as if every other game we are getting rained out. We have played many games since then and are doing a good job of staying in close ball games. Currently we are 19-11 and we sit in third place in the CACC at 9-5 with 6 games coming up in the next two weeks. This stretch is what we have been waiting for as many teams in our league are making their playoff push. Read the rest of this entry »
