How can you leave Texas out of the top 8 seeds? We sell out every regional and it would make money for the NCAA. Carolyn

How many games will DBU need to win to get in?

Patvball_10 April 27, 2011 - 6:14 pm

Um… So Arizona State doesn’t make it…. Spend more time on your projections. This is a joke!

Brian Foley April 27, 2011 - 6:42 pm

Arizona State isn’t eligible due to NCAA Sanctions.

Cougar April 27, 2011 - 6:43 pm

Arizona St is not eligible for the post-season.

Phil April 28, 2011 - 4:42 am

They’re eligible until the NCAA appeal is heard and ruled upon. The appeal hearing will take place 2 weeks before the tournament field is announced. There is no way the NCAA will rule that quickly. Arizona St makes the tournament this year most likely will have to sit out next year, assuming they lose the appeal.

Brian Foley April 28, 2011 - 4:03 pm

That hasn’t been confirmed and ASU is a borderline host right now if they were to be included.

Anonymous April 28, 2011 - 4:56 pm

If ASU is eligible for the postseason, don’t allow them to host. I don’t think it’s fair to other institutions if ASU is allowed to host when sanctions have been handed out. Just because they’re appealing doesn’t erase that fact. They can go to the Regionals, just don’t host.

Borderline? Number 4 RPI and half a game back in the Pac-10 isn’t borderline at all. But Baseball America got that right in it’s most recent Stock Report. They are a national seed if they win the Stanford series and a borderline, likely non-seeded regional host if they lose it.

Ehc05 May 29, 2011 - 1:49 pm

ECU pitching will take regional.

Jabbott April 27, 2011 - 8:23 pm

If Clemson were to win the series with Ga Tech, would we they have a shot at hosting?

Brian Foley April 27, 2011 - 8:58 pm

Possibly but I will have Mark answer that! rnrnBrian FoleyrnSent on the Sprintu00ae Now Network from my BlackBerryu00ae

manhattan is appearing as an impressive mid major team

Jacksonville appears to be the second best team in the A-Sun and won their series with East Tennessee, don’t they deserve the same consideration as either Arizona or UCLA? And if not, why not?

Jupiterjoeg May 29, 2011 - 3:44 am

Look at their RPI throughout the season… East Tennessee St has been as high as 13 and has played a tougher schedule than Jacksonville including u00a0a road series win vs NC St and a road win at Georgia Tech (#8) at the end of the season.

Valpo = Strongest team in the field

How is Mississippi State left out with an RPI of 26 and wins over Vandy, Florida, South Carolina, and Southern Miss and a sweep of Auburn?

Doug April 28, 2011 - 3:25 pm

Southern Miss, as a national seed, and Fullerton not hosting? Have to admit I haven’t seen either of those in any other projection.

David April 28, 2011 - 3:57 pm

Southern Miss this year can play with anyone. They are a very deep team.

Doug April 28, 2011 - 4:41 pm

I agree So. Miss is a strong team, just haven’t heard them in the discussion for a national seed. I can see them as a regional host, no problem.

With Conference USA being strong this year with a high conference RPI whoever wins the conference might be deserving of a national seed. It will probably come down to Rice and Southern Miss. Do you know where Conference USA tournament is this year?

Doug April 29, 2011 - 4:13 am

According to the schedule on the Rice website, it will be in Pearl Mississippi. So. Miss is in Hattiesburg, so I don’t know where Pearl is.

David April 29, 2011 - 10:20 am

I think Pearl is the facility where the Atlanta Braves minor complex is at. Pearl is in Jackson or very near Jackson, Ms. Do not know how fare that is to Southern Miss, but they should have some home town fans at the game, 2 yrs ago in Omaho the annoucers kept commenting on how well the Southern Miss fans travel.

CUSAalltheway May 2, 2011 - 9:32 pm

Pearl is essentially Jackson, (like what Metarie (Zephyr Stadium) is to New Orleans or Round Rock to Austin, TX), Trustmark Park is the home of the Mississippi Braves. Pearl is about 100 miles north of Hattiesburg, but I mean, this is MS, it could be 1,000 miles (cough Omaha cough), and it wouldn’t make a difference. USM will be repeating as CUSA champs this season.

Jmcglone April 28, 2011 - 10:11 pm

Does Valpo really have a shot at the Horizon League Tournament title, I kind of thought Wright State and Milwaukee were the best teams in the conference, and they haven’t played either one of them yet?

Jim S. April 29, 2011 - 2:41 am

Valpo took 2 of 3 at Hawaii this past weekend, should have taken 3. They’ve been dominant in league play so far and shouldn’t have any trouble with either team.
