#15 Georgia Tech 6 Wake Forest 5

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Junior Jake Davies’ sacrifice fly scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 12th inning, and gave No. 9 Georgia Tech (27-10, 14-4 ACC) a 6-5 extra-inning win over Wake Forest (14-24, 6-12 ACC) Sunday afternoon at Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Baseball Park. The Yellow Jackets took two of three to win the series.

Freshman Kyle Wren started the inning with a double down the right field line, his second extra-base hit of the game. He was moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt by junior Jacob Esch, before racing home on Davies’ fly ball to centerfield.

Davies’ drive to the outfield gave Tech all the run support it needed, as sophomore Luke Bard (2-2) struck out Wake Forest designated hitter Ryan Lloyd to strand a runner at second base and end the game in the bottom half of the 12th inning. Bard won for the second time this season, scattering two runs on three hits over five innings of relief for starter Buck Farmer.
