Video of the Day

Nebraska won two out of three games from the UCLA Bruins over the weekend but the most impressive portion of the weekend was done by sophomore infielder Kurt Farmer. On a foul ball, he reached over the wall making a fabulous catch but his momentum caused him to flip over the wall. You can check out the video below. As always, if you know of a good catch or interesting college baseball video feel free to drop us a line at editor at collegebaseballdaily.com. Read the rest of this entry »

2011 CBD Mid-Major Poll (March 7th)

By: Aaron Kirby
Preseason #1 TCU (7-4) is back in the top spot this week after  going 3-1.  After dropping a midweek game to Dallas Baptist, they went on the road and swept a pretty good Texas Tech club.  After missing his start with blister last week, TCU lefty Matt Purke was back on the bump and  picked up the win on Sunday going six innings allowing only 1 hit and 0 runs. The Gators had never been perfect against the Hurricanes in a three-game set in Gainesville and took all three meetings from the Hurricanes for only the second time in school history (Feb. 17-19, 2006). Heaslip Excels In Last-Second Start

If you watched the Illinois-Chicago game at Missouri on Sunday, you would probably think that Matt Salemi was on the mound for the Flames.

He was throwing well; He was throwing strikes; He was wearing number 35: all ways usually to describe Illinois-Chicago’s best pitcher. But nope, no Salemi on the mound. It was Matt Heaslip. Read the rest of this entry »

Zastrynzy leads Missouri to Doubleheader Split

Start learning to pronounce his name.

Then, once you have that down, learn how to spell it.

Don’t complain about the wind in Taylor Stadium; it’s just a byproduct of Rob Zastryzny sprinting his way to notoriety in Columbia, MO. In the Missouri freshman’s third start of the year, he allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings, on par with his season’s numbers coming in – 10.2 innings pitched and four earned runs allowed.
