Here is some of our thoughts for games played on March 26th.

  • My biggest story of the night was the dominating nature that the Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeated the FSU Seminoles on Saturday night. They got a great start from Tim Cooney who went 7.2 innings giving up only five hits while striking out 11 Seminoles batters. The offense for Wake Forest was led by Mac Williamson who hit a first inning three run homer to stake them to the early lead.
  • The other story of the evening was the Florida Gators evening up their series with the South Carolina Gamecocks at one game a piece. The Gators broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the seventh when Kamm Washington led off the inning with a homer over the left field fence. Hudson Randall was solid on the mound again as he pitched a complete game giving up five hits and one unearned run.
  • UCLA’s Trevor Bauer pitched a complete game one hitter in a 4-0 victory over the crosstown rival USC Trojans. He gave up only a hit to Adam Landecker in the eighth inning on his way to striking out 14 batters as he set the career strikeout record at the school.
  • Wichita State’s Tyler Grimes hit an RBI single in the top of the 17th inning to give the Shockers a 7-6 lead which they were able to hold onto to give Wichita State the victory over Oregon. The game was the longest in Wichita State’s school history.
  • UC-Irvine dropped their second straight game to Gonzaga today by a score of 3-0. The Bulldogs got a fantastic start from Tyler Olson who pitched 6.1 innings while giving up six hits and striking out seven batters. Andy Hunter finished the game off by pitching the final 2.2 innings without giving up a hit and walking one batter.
  • The craziest game of the day took place in Hattiesburg, Mississippi between Tulane and Southern Miss. The two teams combined for 31 runs as the Green Wave defeated the Golden Eagles 16-15 in ten innings. The teams combined for five homers including BA VOllmuth hitting his ninth of the season.
