Here is your ACC Recap for March 15th.

#2 Florida 5 #4 Florida State 4 (10 innings)

Junior Daniel Pigott (Ormond Beach, Fla.) delivered a walk-off single in the 10th inning that scored sophomore Nolan Fontana (Winter Springs, Fla.) with the winning run as No. 1 Florida (15-2) edged No. 4 Florida State (15-2), 5-4, on Tuesday night in front of a record crowd of 5,930 fans at McKethan Stadium. The Seminoles used a four-run third to grab the lead but were held scoreless for the final seven innings of the contest. The teams have now split two of their four regular-season meetings, with contests remaining in Jacksonville on March 29 and in Tallahassee on April 12.

After junior right-hander Anthony DeSclafani (Freehold, N.J.) (3-0) retired the Seminoles in order to begin each club’s first extra-inning affair of the season, Fontana ripped a one-out triple into the right-field corner off FSU senior Mike McGee (0-1). Pigott (3-for-4) battled to a 3-2 count before slicing a single into center field that snapped a four-game slide for the Gators against their Sunshine State rivals. The game-winning hit represented Pigott’s career-best fourth RBI of the night and the junior is hitting a team-best .483 (28-for-58).

#17 North Carolina 11 Princeton 2

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 15 North Carolina used a nine-run eighth inning to beat Princeton (2-6) 11-2 Tuesday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels picked up three hits from Tommy Coyle, while Ben Bunting drove in a team-high three runs in the win. Cody Stiles improved to 3-0 on the mound by tossing 6.2 innings of one-run baseball. UNC will head to Blacksburg, Va. later this week to take on Virginia Tech in an ACC weekend series.

Jesse Wierzbicki extended his career-long hit streak to 10 games on Tuesday when he connected on his fourth home run of the year in the bottom of the second inning. Princeton’s Kevin Link challenged Wierzbicki with a fastball inside which the senior first baseman rifled foul down the third base line. Link threw another fastball on the very next pitch that Wierzbicki tattooed over the right center field fence giving Carolina the 1-0 lead.

NC State 7 Buffalo 5

RALEIGH, N.C. — NC State head coach Elliott Avent was looking for a spark for his struggling offense. Harold Riggins provided an explosion instead.

Riggins had what you might call a big day at the plate in leading the Wolfpack past Buffalo 7-5. He walked to lead off the second inning, was hit by a pitch leading off the fifth, hit a two-run double in the sixth, and topped the day off with a grand-slam home run in the eighth.

Liberty 11 Maryland 4

A strong relief appearance by Garrett Baker and seven extra base hits propelling the Liberty Flames past the Maryland Terrapins, 11-4, Tuesday afternoon at Smith Stadium.

With victory, Liberty moves to 9-8 on the year. The Flames have won four-straight games. Maryland falls to 8-8 on the year. Conversely, the Terps have lost four-consecutive contests.

Baker entered the contest with the bases loaded, no one out and one run already in for Maryland and quickly restored order. He retired seven consecutive batters from the second through the fourth innings and later, finished his outing by setting down 12 Terrapins in order.
