Preseason #1 TCU (7-4) is back in the top spot this week after going 3-1. After dropping a midweek game to Dallas Baptist, they went on the road and swept a pretty good Texas Tech club. After missing his start with blister last week, TCU lefty Matt Purke was back on the bump and picked up the win on Sunday going six innings allowing only 1 hit and 0 runs.
Fresno St(8-1) dropped to #2 after losing their first game of the year to Cal Poly but bounced back on the weekend by winning 2 games at UC Davis while getting another rained out.
#3 College of Charleston (10-2) stays put by going 3-2 on the week picking up wins at Jacksonville, Western Kentucky and NY Tech while dropping a pair of games to Coastal Carolina and Auburn. Coastal (7-4) moves up one spot to #6 after a 3-0 week including the win at CofC.
Louisville (8-2) rebounded very nicely after losing series to Toledo last week. Louisville moved up to #4 after beating Morehead St mid week before sweeping another good mid-major club Kent St.
For the second week in a row a Southland team made a big statement. Texas State (9-2) moved up to #5 from #11 in poll after picking up a big mid week win vs in state Baylor before going to Texas A&M CC to open Southland play up and swept them. Last week’s Southland conference star, SE Louisiana (8-3) dropped 3 spots to #8 after losing to LSU mid week and winning 2 of 3 from Sacred Heart.
St Johns (5-4) moved up 1 spot to #7 after taking 2 of 3 at #25 Georgia Southern (7-5). The Johnies dropped Friday’s opener before taking the final 2 games in Statesboro picking up a nice road series win to add to their postseason resume.
Wichita State (9-2) dropped from #4 to #9 after dropping 2 games to UT-Arlington but did get a good win over Dallas Baptist. Also stepping back a little was Elon (8-4) who just drop one spot to #10 after dropping the first two games of week to UNCW and Wright State before getting three wins to end the week against Wright St, West Virginia, and Temple. Pittsburgh (3-2) finally got on the field for the first time since Feb. 20th and split 2 games at Wofford dropping them from #10 to #14.
Three Florida schools all picked up a bunch of wins this week. # 11 FAU (10-3) and #13 FIU (11-2) each picked up five wins without losing a game. #12 Stetson (9-1) suffered its first lose vs Maine but picked up 4 more wins.(Maine, Columbia, Illinios, and Central Michigan).
#15 Western Carolina(7-3) stayed put after going 2-1 but losing 2 games to the rain in Forest City. After splitting 2 games at Eastern Kentucky the Catamounts picked up another come from behind victory vs Akron in first game of tourney before getting games vs Ohio St and Army washed out.
Hawaii(4-5) dropped to #17 after splitting 4 games at Loyola Marymount. Hawaii is one game below .500 but has opened season with 4 games vs Oregon and 3 vs Texas and Loyola Marymount is no slouch.
Troy(9-2) entered the rankings last week and looks like they should be here for awhile. After dropping mid week game vs Samford the Trojans swept the weekend series from SE Missouri St. and moved from #25 to #18.
After taking 2 of 3 from UCLA last week San Jose St (8-3) picked up mid week win vs St Marys but dropped 2 of 3 vs Santa Clara. San Jose St dropped from #19 to #23
Cal St Bakersfield (11-2) jumps into the rankings at #19 after going a perfect 6-0 this week. In those 6 wins was a big win over Arizona St. Creighton (9-1) also entered the rankings at #21 after picking up just 2 wins over Arkansas St but is off to great start this season including a 4 game sweep of New Mexico last week.
Two squads that dropped out of the rankings to allow Cal St Bakersfield and Creighton in were former #23 Kent State (5-5) who was swept by Louisville and #24 Minnesota (4-5) who dropped below .500 after losing to South Alabama and Oklahoma St however did pick up win vs Washington St.
The last few spots were the hardest to give. San Diego(3-6) dropped from #16 to #22 after losing at UC Riverside, vs California and vs Oklahoma. 3 games below .500 makes it very hard to justify anyone being in any poll but 5 of the 6 loses are to nationaly ranked clubs. San Diego plays Uconn (4-4) 4 games this week for what could be who has the right to be in the top 25?
#20 Western Kentucky (6-5) and #21 Georgia Southern (7-5). Both teams played good teams this week but both went 1-3. WKU lost to Vandy, College of Charleston and Auburn picking up win vs NY Tech. Georgia Southern lost a mid week game at North Florida and series at home vs St Johns. In the end both teams dropped out.
Sam Houston State (10-2) enters the rankings at #24 after a 4-0 week with 2 wins vs Michigan and 2 vs UMASS. Also joining the top 25 and coming in at #25 is Kennesaw St(9-2). KSU swept first conference series this past weekend vs Campbell.

Why isn’t Dallas Baptist in your rankings? IMO they are much more deserving of a ranking than San Diego at this point.
Dallas Baptist is 7-4 and had a good season so far and probably would have been in if they had gone 3-1 this past week. They went 2-2 with wins over TCU and New Orleans and loses to Wichita St and UTA. nSan Diego and the last 2 spots were what struggled with this week. The only team in the top 25 to play a schedule as hard as San Diego is TCU. This will be the last week a below .500 team is ranked.

No doubt Tony!! 3-6 and haven’t beaten anyone. As a Wichita State fan I’ve seen these guys quite a bit the last few years. Great talent and they play one hell of a schedule.
Watch out for UNLV. The Rebels are 11-2 and have 2 midweek games against Arizona. We will find out just how good they are.

Jacksonville University is slowly gaining respect. They are 9-3 with close loses to #7 FSU and #18 College of Charleston. They have some solid veteran pitchers and a group of young pitchers who just get how to pitch. They are exciting to watch. It will be great to see how this week unfolds. They play an Evansville team who brings in Freshmen All American (SS) Eric Stamets and Senior Greg Wallace (All MVC Outfielder). I like this JU team – I’m just saying………………………………
Glad to see Texas State moving up. They’ve got quality wins against Nebraska, Baylor (in Waco) and gave Rice all they wanted in an 11-10 loss.
I think the sweep at Texas A&M CC was more impressive then those wins. Texas St is pretty darn good

Keep an eye on the Seattle University Redhawks…….outstanding pitching from 6-10 Max Wheildon-1.17 ERA, Brandon Kizer 1.35 ERA.and Seath Howe-2.45 ERA….Bullpen has been outstanding led by Bryan Dalton and Blaine Jones with 0.00 ERA. Leading hitters Trent Oleszczuk .351 Doug Kincad .360 Bryndon Ecklund .308. SS Nick Latta has been outstanding with the glove and has hit 2 HRs. Josh Kalalau and Matt Comer have been driving in runs in the middle of the order. SU split their first series at Cal State Northridge, took 2 of 3 from Notre Dame, and nearly swept three from undefeated University of Portland who had just beaten the University of Oregon, winning the final 12-2. A much improved ball club from last year after reinstating the program. Off to a 6-4 start.
Seattle University beats Washington 4-2 at Husky Ballpark. Washington State squeaks by Dallas Baptist 8-7.
