Aman Reaka’s Top 99 College Prospects (No. 25-49)

Welcome to my yearly Pre-season college baseball top 99 (draft eligible) players. (PART 1|Part 2) This list is not meant to be a prediction of draft position, although in some sense it wont be too far off. My list is more about who I think will have more success at the next level. This is not a science. It is purely my opinion after watching video, talking to scouts and scouting some of the players personally. This is the pre-season list which in all honesty shouldn’t really even be attempted. A chunk of these players won’t even be in the story by years end and many others will need to be included. This list is purely a vehicle to make you aware of what the college landscape and the MLB draft might look like. I will do this all over again after the college season is over. Questions and comments can be commented on below and you can also find me on Twitter @bkmhoxx. Read the rest of this entry »

CBD Journal with Drew Fann (Feb. 8th)

Hey everyone, hope you are having a good start to the week. I should have known that once I wrote about the great weather that I would jinx it. The weather in Nashville was cold, rainy, and gloomy all week. It is more difficult to workout when the weather is cold or wet because the baseball becomes slick and because the rain may affect our vision. However, we play in bad weather, so we workout in bad weather too. We have a saying that “it is always 70 (degrees) and sunny at Hawkins Field,” because if we have the right mindset, the weather will not affect us. Read the rest of this entry »

CBD Journal with Ray Ricker (Feb. 8th)

Hello again from even more snow in Connecticut. It was unusually warm here for SuperBowl Sunday with the temperature getting into the 40’s.You have to be part meteorologist to be a baseball coach, with rain and teams traveling from far away you have to be able to predict what is going to happen a couple of hours before gametime. This is a skill I’m still trying to perfect, with snow in the forecast again this week the coaching staff has come to the realization that we are not going to practice on a real baseball field for another 16 days in Myrtle Beach; which by the way has temperatures in the 60’s. We’re excited for the weather but even more to get on the field and out of the gym. Read the rest of this entry »

CBD Journal with Western Illinois (Feb. 8th)

T-minus 12 days until the Leatherneck baseball team begins the 2011 season. As the days draw near, you can feel the energy from the players and coaches increasing. I think it is safe to say, we are ready to get rid of the snowshoes and lace up the cleats. We have a very talented group of guys that have joined the team this year and are very excited to see what we can do on the field together. We had a great fall and really started to gel together both on and off the field. Read the rest of this entry »
