Jamieson looking to lead Missouri back to NCAA Tourney

Eighth place in the Big 12 hardly breeds positivity, but just tell that to the Missouri Tigers.

The Tigers finished just 2.5 games better than last place Oklahoma state last season and were picked in the preseason Big 12 coaches’ poll to finish last in the conference for 2011, Now, coming off a disappointing 29-26 (10-16) season, there are plenty of new faces in the Missouri clubhouse. 2011 CBD Season Preview: SEC Western Division

The SEC Western Division was won by the Auburn Tigers during 2010 season with a 20-10 record. Coming in as the runner up was the Arkansas Razorbacks who went 18-12. Ole Miss finished third at 16-14 while Alabama came in fourth at 15-15. LSU went 14-16 for a fifth place finish and Mississippi State finished last with a 6-24 mark. Read the rest of this entry »

CBD Roundtable on Wittels Situation

The biggest story entering the year is Garrett Wittels 56 game hitting streak. Things aren’t going all smooth with him as he was charged in December in the Bahamas with raping two 17 year old girls. Wittels and two friends posted bond of $10,000 and will appear at a prelimanary hearing on April 18 before Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis. The school announced on Wednesday that Wittels would be in the starting lineup to begin the season against SE Louisiana even though the charges are still pending. 2011 Preseason NEC Coaches Poll

Somerset, NJ – Central Connecticut was the last Northeast Conference baseball team to do it seven seasons ago and Charlie Hickey’s club will attempt to achieve the feat again in 2011. 2011 Patriot League Preseason Coaches Poll

Center Valley, Pa. – Army finished in first place in the Patriot League Baseball standings by four games in 2010, while Bucknell came through in the League Tournament to win its second crown in the past three seasons. Patriot League coaches and sports information directors predicted success for each team again in 2011 as the Black Knights edged out the Bison for first place in the League’s preseason poll, it was announced on Wednesday. 2011 Big Ten Preseason Coaches Poll

PARK RIDGE, Ill. – After winning the Big Ten’s regular-season and tournament titles last season, Minnesota has been named the conference favorite for 2011, the Big Ten announced on Tuesday. For the first time in conference history, the Big Ten baseball coaches voted on the top six teams and also selected three players from their teams for a Players to Watch list. Also among the top six projected finishers for the season were No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Indiana, No. 4 Michigan State, No. 5 Iowa and No. 6 Ohio State. Read the rest of this entry »
