NCBWA Releases 2011 Stopper of the Year Watch List

Wichita, Kan. (NCBWA) — Forty-five players have been named to the initial watch list for the seventh annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball, as announced by the association Tuesday.

2011 CBD Season Preview: WAC

The 2010 season saw the WAC Conference regular season title won by the Fresno State Bulldogs with a 16-8 conference mark which was 1.5 games better then second place teams Nevada and New Mexico State who each had 14-9 conference records. Hawaii came in fourth place with a .500 record of 12-12 while Louisiana Tech finished in fifth at 11-13. Hello from beneath 4 feet of snow in the Northeast and unfortunately a lot more snow in forecast in the coming days!

My name is Ray Ricker and I am in my fourth season as Associate Head Baseball Coach at Division II Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut. The Post University Eagles compete in the C.A.C.C. (Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) which unlike many colleges in the country, we don’t have to worry about the new bats this year, because our conference only swings wood. Our guys really like swinging the wood, our pitchers love throwing to them, and the game is played the way it is supposed to be played with a crack of the bat and not a ping. CBD Journal with Western Illinois for Feb. 1st

The 2011 Collegiate Baseball Season Is Upon Us!

The Western Illinois Leathernecks will be writing a weekly journal throughout this upcoming season to keep you updated on our successes on and off the field. Last year was a rough season to say the least. Losing a head coach to leukemia and a pitcher to a motorcycle accident in the same year would cause a rough season at any university. Without a head coach throughout the entire fall, the team struggled to find an identity. Even with the work we put in after Christmas break, the lack of a fall season showed on the diamond.
