Big 12 releases 2011 TV Schedule

The Big 12 Conference has announced its 2011 baseball schedule on FSN. Six games, highlighted by the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship, will be broadcast.

Eight different schools will be featured on FSN during the regular season, including 2010 College World Series qualifier Oklahoma along with the defending Big 12 regular and postseason champions Texas and Texas A&M, respectively.  Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech will also make appearances. Coverage begins on Saturday, April 23 when the Red Raiders travel to Manhattan, Kan. to face K-State. Read the rest of this entry »

Dan Hayden added to Xavier Coaching Staff

CINCINNATI — Former Musketeer standout catcher Dan Hayden has been named the new assistant coach for the Xavier baseball team. Hayden, a 2008 graduate of Xavier University, was captain of the 2008 Atlantic 10 regular season champion Musketeers.

“I am very excited to have Danny (Hayden) on our staff,” said Xavier head coach Scott Googins. “He was a terrific player and he will bring a wealth of experience to our staff. 2011 MEAC Preseason Poll

2011 Bay Area Media Day

The 2011 Bay Area Media Day is set to begin today at 2pm Eastern/11 am Pacific at Stanford University. The teams featured including the host Cardinal are California, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s and San Francisco. The entire media day will be streamed live through Stanford’s athletic site which can be check out by clicking here.

2011 CBD Season Preview: Big East

Richard Brehaut to join UCLA Baseball

According to Ryan Rosenblatt of BruinsNation.com, UCLA quarterback Richard Brehaut will join the baseball team for the upcoming season confirmed by UCLA head baseball coach John Savage. He appeared in nine games (seven starts) for the Bruins football squad completing 119 passes in 212 attempts while tossing six touchdowns and throwing seven interceptions. 2011 MAAC Preseason Baseball Poll

Edison, N.J. – Rider University has been chosen as the favorite to win the 2011 MAAC Baseball Championship, according to a preseason poll voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Rider, the defending MAAC Champion, finished with 73 points in the poll, while Marist College finished second (67).  Canisius College placed third with 65 points.  Manhattan College placed fourth (56), followed by Siena College (51), Niagara University (28), Fairfield University (27), Saint Peter’s College (20), and Iona College (18). 2011 CBD Season Preview: Ivy League

Last season, the Ivy League’s Gehrig Division was won by Columbia with a 14-6 record which was four games ahead of second place Pennsylvania who went 10-10. Cornell came in one game behind the Quakers at 9-11 while Princeton rounded out the division with a 6-14 record. The Red Rolfe Division was won by Dartmouth with a 13-7 record while Harvard and Brown tied for second place with 10-10 records. The Yale Bulldogs checked in last in the division with a 8-12 record.  Read the rest of this entry »

2011 WAC Preseason Poll

DENVER – Fresno State has been selected as the favorite to win the 2011 Western Athletic Conference regular season baseball crown in a vote by the league’s seven head coaches. The coaches also voted on a preseason all-WAC team with Fresno State leading the way as it placed seven players on the team. Hawai‘i junior second baseman Kolten Wong was named the preseason player of the year, while San Jose State senior Blake McFarland was picked the preseason pitcher of the year. 2011 Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Poll

ST. LOUIS – Illinois State, which returns a dominating young pitching staff and solid depth from last year’s State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship squad, has been tabbed as the league favorite in the annual coaches’ preseason poll, receiving four of eight first-place votes.

The Redbirds tallied 58 points and were a close favorite over second-place pick Wichita State (53 points).  Evansville (41 points) was picked to finish in the third position. Read the rest of this entry »

2011 Pac-10 Baseball Coaches Poll

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – In a polling of the Conference’s baseball coaches, NCAA runner-up UCLA has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the Pac-10 title in 2011.
