CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team has released its schedule for the 2011 season. The 56-game slate begins with a tournament in Myrtle Beach and concludes with nine of the last 12 games at home.

The Eagles finished the 2010 season 30-28 and went 14-16 in the ACC, making their second appearance in the ACC Championship.

BC opens the season with the Caravelle Resort Tournament hosted by Coastal Carolina. The Eagles face No. 20 Coastal Carolina to start the year and will also play Indiana and Tennessee Tech.

BC then heads to Florida for a three-game series with the No. 1 Gators in Gainesville.

The annual exhibition against the Boston Red Sox is on Saturday, February 26 at 1 p.m. The teams have played at the Red Sox’s spring training home every year since 1993. This year will mark the 21st meeting with the Red Sox.

The Eagles open conference play March 11 on the road at No. 11 Florida State, where they earned a series win the last time they were in Tallahassee in 2009. BC also travels to Maryland (March 18-20), Duke (April 8-10), No. 19 Georgia Tech (April 22-24) and Wake Forest (May 6-8).

The maroon and gold open the home portion of its schedule March 25 against Virginia Tech for a three-game series. The Eagles also host perennial powers No. 18 Miami (April 1-3), No. 4 Clemson (April 15-17), No. 14 Virginia (April 29-May 1) and NC State (May 19-21).

The first round of the Beanpot will take place April 20 at LeLacheur Park, home of the Lowell Spinners. BC will face Northeastern in the opener. The championship and consolation games will be held at Fenway Park April 26.

The 2011 ACC Championship is scheduled for May 25-29 and will be held at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C.
