The Big East Conference had anĀ outstandingĀ season in 2010 having St. John’s, Louisville, and UConn make the NCAA Tournament including two of them hosting Regionals. The sad part is that none of the schools were able to win their respective regional.

The Louisville Cardinals won the 2010 Big East Regular Season title with a 21-6 record which was only a half game better then second place UConn who finished at 20-6. Pittsburgh finished third with a 18-8 record while St. John’s and South Florida tied for fourth place with 16-11 records. Rutgers finished sixth at 15-12 while Cincinnati went 13-14 for a seventh place finished. West Virginia and Notre Dame finished in a tie for eighth at 10-17. Villanova came in tenth at 9-18 which was only one game better then eleventh place Seton Hall at 8-19. Georgetown finished in last place with a 5-22 record.

St. John’s ended up winning the Big East Postseason Tournament by going a perfect 4-0 with a victory of South Florida, Louisville twice, and defeating UConn in the Big East Championship Game to receive the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. UConn and Louisville would both be named as hosts for the NCAA Tournament. Both St. John’s and Louisville would finish as runner-ups in their regional while UConn finished third in the Norwich Regional.

ohhhhh have Louisville finishing 3rd. Cant wait to see how St Johns does vs Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern. If they go 4-2 or better it will be a great 2 weeks for them.

Louisville has some major holes but they always seem to fill the holes every year, so it will be tight.

Sounds like your still a little SORE from last years Big East tournament-It was NO fluke, looking very forward to Georgia competition!!!

“JK-CP [Moderator] 9 minutes ago in reply to WCU32nSounds like your still a little SORE from last years Big East tournament-It was NO fluke, looking very forward to Georgia competition!!!”nnIm not sure what you mean by that? Im not sore by anything that happened in Big East. Just saying it was a bold pick by Brian picking Louisville to finish 3rd. The top 3 teams are all going to be pretty darn good. n

Brian, there’s more to the game than batting average. Michael Lang hits leadoff for RU, bats .317/12/34, scores SIXTY FIVE runs (top 10 in BE), leads RU in doubles and triples, is second behind Biserta in homers, and you take the kid who’s got a homer and 25 ribbies because his average is 16 points higher. Meanwhile, Lang slugs 150 points higher than Hop despite being half his size. Illogical.

Dan February 3, 2011 - 6:47 pm

Brian, will you be covering the Big East/Big Ten opening tournament in Florida Presidents weekend?

I wish I could swing it with the real jobs but flights are outrageous and rather the CBD crew attend a couple of regionals, super regionals, and the CWS instead!rnrnBrian FoleyrnSent on the Sprintu00ae Now Network from my BlackBerryu00ae

no Dirocco on key returners for Seton Hall? Inflated era last year but still solid whip and k/9 in a good hitting conference… i guess no one cares about Seton Hall too much but just curious why the ace of the staff wasn’t mentioned

UConn #1! But I thought …
