LAWRENCE, Kan. – In an important decision for the future of the Kansas baseball program, Head Coach Ritch Price announced Friday that long-time assistant coach Ryan Graves has been elevated to the position of Associate Head Coach effective immediately. Graves will continue to coordinate the Kansas pitching staff and also be the position coach for the team’s catchers.

2011 CBD Season Preview: Horizon League
Wright State won the 2010 Horizon League Regular Season title with a 17-6 overall record. Milwaukee finished in the runners-up position a game back with a 17-8 record while Illinois-Chicago finished third with a 15-9 record. Valparaiso came in fourth at 9-10 and Butler finished 11-13 for a fifth place finish. Top 100 Countdown: 6. Taylor Jungmann (Texas)
College Baseball Daily continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 6 in our countdown with Texas junior RHP Taylor Jungmann. He is from Temple, Texas where he attended Georgetown High School for one year and Rogers High School for three seasons. In his senior season, he had a record of 14-0 with a 0.77 ERA, 153 K’s and four shutouts. He was honored as the Class 5A Player of the Year by TSWA, Central Texas Player of the Year, Gatorade Texas Player of the Year, Louisville Slugger Texas Player of the Year, and on the Baseball America High School All-American First Team. ESPN releases SEC Baseball/Softball TV Schedule

ESPN networks will offer a vast schedule of Southeastern Conference baseball and softball games for the 2011 season. The SEC had a successful 2010 season that saw the South Carolina baseball program win the 2010 National Championship and three softball teams advanced to the Women’s College World Series. 2011 CBD Season Preview: Big Ten
Heading into the 2010 campaign, everyone was talking about the Ohio State Buckeyes being the class of the Big Ten but they would be talking about the Gophers instead. The Big Ten ended up seeing the first place Minnesota Gophers (15-9) and last place Penn State Nittany Lions (9-15) separated by a measly six games. Michigan ended up finishing second with a 14-10 mark while Iowa and Northwestern finished at 13-11 in a tie for third place. Purdue and Indiana were also tied with a 12-12 mark for fifth place. Michigan State and Ohio State tied for seventh place with a record of 11-13 and Illinois finished in ninth with a 10-14 mark while Penn State rounded out the standings with their 9-15 record. Bradley releases 2011 Schedule

PEORIA, Ill. – The 2011 college baseball season is just a month away and Bradley’s 111th season will include a 53-game regular-season slate with games to be played in seven states, according to the schedule announced today by third-year head coach Elvis Dominguez.
“This is the most challenging schedule we’ve had since I have been at Bradley and it certainly will be a great test for our team,” said Dominguez. “Schedules are prepared 2-to-3 years in advance and this one will test us early against good programs. We believe the early non-conference portion of the schedule will be of great benefit for our players and help prepare them for the very challenging Missouri Valley Conference race.” Read the rest of this entry »

We continue the list today with number 7 in our countdown with junior RHP Sonny Gray. He is from Smyrna, Tennessee where he attended Smyrna High School. He went 4-0 with a 0.79 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 35 innings while hitting .518 including three home runs during senior campaign. Heading into the 2008 MLB Draft, he was ranked as the No. 52 draft prospect by Baseball America and the 67th best draft prospect by Perfect Game. Arkansas Pine-Bluff releases 2011 Schedule

PINE BLUFF, Ark.- Golden Lions Head Baseball Coach Carlos James announced Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s schedule for the 2011 season today. On the schedule are 24 games that will be played at both the new Torii Hunter Baseball & Softball Complex and Taylor Memorial Field along with 27 road matchups. Andy Sawyers returns to Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M baseball head coach Rob Childress announced Wednesday that Andy Sawyers will rejoin the Aggie baseball staff as the team’s associate head coach. He will coordinate the Aggie hitters in addition to working with the team’s catchers defensively.
Prior to a very successful two-year stint at Kansas State, Sawyers spent the 2008 season at Texas A&M helping the Aggies capture a Big 12 Championship and advance to an NCAA Super Regional. Read the rest of this entry »
