The South Carolina Gamecocks are facing an uphill battle this year as they lost Blake Cooper and Sam Dyson from last year’s championship squad and received some bad news today. Head coach Ray Tanner announced today that sophomore RHP Ethan Carter was dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.Last season, Carter went 3-0 with two saves and a 5.46 ERA while striking out 30 batters in 28 innings pitched. He ended up appearing in 24 games but the Gamecocks started to rest him at the end of the season which saw him only appear in one game at the CWS where he gave up a homer to Tyler Ogle in an elimination game. He was expected to be an integral part of the rotation this year as a possible number 3 starter or working weekday games.
