Anthony Rendon received full clearance to resume all baseball activity after being on the sidelines for the last five months, according to Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle. Anthony suffered his second major ankle injury in the last two summers when he had a fracture dislocation on July 14th in a Team USA exhibition game. In 2009, he tore ligaments in that same ankle. Rendon won the 2010 Dick Howser Award given to the top college baseball player in the country after hitting .394 with 26 homers and 85 RBI.

This is good news for the Rice program as Rendon is widely considered the top college baseball prospect in the 2011 MLB Draft. The Rice Owls will be looking forward to having him in the middle of the lineup this season as they look to make their first appearance in the College World Series since 2008.
