Maryland reloads under Bakich

The Maryland Terrapins will be entering their second season under former Vanderbilt assistant coach Erik Bakich. Last season was an adjustment for the Terps and Bakich as they went 17-39, only winning five games in the highly competitive ACC.

Last season, Bakich inherited a program which has only three appearances in the NCAA Tourney in school history, in each of their only ACC Championship winning seasons (1965, 1970, and 1971). “I am trying to change the attitude and create a tradition of winning,” Bakich said. “It will be a long process, but we need to put the blueprint in place for future student-athletes.” Read the rest of this entry »

Albany releases 2011 Schedule

Ray Tanner Nominated For 2010 United Nations Peace Awards

Top 100 Countdown: 39. Levi Michael (North Carolina)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 39 with North Carolina junior shorstop Levi Michael. He is from Welcome, North Carolina, where he attended North Davidson High School, where as a junior he was rated the #1 prospect in the state by Impact Baseball. UAB releases 2011 Schedule

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The UAB baseball program on Monday released its 2011 schedule, which features a challenging mix of 29 home games and 27 away from home. SE Missouri State releases 2011 Schedule

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. – Southeast Missouri State baseball coach Mark Hogan has released the schedule for the 2011 season.

The Redhawks will open up the season in Lafayette, La. against Louisiana-Lafayette. The season will begin on Friday, February 18 at 6 p.m. “Louisiana-Lafayette has a very storied program, and this early test will not only help us, but give our injured players from last season a competitive early matchup,” said coach Hogan. Charleston Southern’s Bedenbaugh Killed in Car Accident

CHARLESTON, S.C. – CSU baseball player Will Bedenbaugh was killed in a single-car accident late Saturday night near his home in Prosperity, S.C., when his car ran off the road.

“Charleston Southern University and especially our CSU Baseball family are very saddened by the loss of Will Bedenbaugh,” said Buccaneer Head Coach Stuart Lake. “Will was a very special person to his teammates and coaches. He was a part of our very first recruiting class here that has done many great things on the field, in the classroom and community. We will honor Will throughout this 2011 season and in the future. He will forever be a part of CSU Baseball.”

Top 100 Countdown: 40. Carson Smith (Texas State)

CarsonSmithActionCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 40 with Texas State’s Carson Smith. He is a 6-5 215 pound right handed pitcher from Midland Texas where he attended Midland Christian High School. As a senior in 2008, he was named District MVP and 1st team All-State. He was also named TAPPS 5A 2nd Team All-District in 2007 as a junior.

Metrodome Collapses (Video)

The Metrodome in Minnepolis collapsed this morning after having heavy snow fall on the roof. Arkansas State helps with Salvation Army

JONESBORO, Ark. (12/9/10) –The Arkansas State baseball team took time out of their preparation for finals this past weekend to take part in the Celebrity Bell Ringer event for the Salvation Army this past Saturday (Dec. 4).
