College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the countdown today at number 30 with Vanderbilt junior LHP Grayson Garvin. The Suwanee, Georgia, native attended high school at the Wesleyan School where he was a four year letter winner including being a starter in each of his final three seasons. He helped lead the team to the Regional Championship in 2007 and 2008 while helping them go to the State Final Four in 2006-08 and winning the 2008 State title. He picked up several awards during his career including being named the 2007, 2008 Region Player of the Year, 2008 Rawlings and Louisville Slugger All-American, Sports Illustrated/ Takkle Top 100, a member of the 2007 Gwinnett Dugout Club 1st team and 2008 Gwinnett Dugout Club Pitcher of the Year. He was selected by the Houston Astros in the 45th round of the 2008 MLB Draft but decided to hold true to his commitment to Vanderbilt.

His freshman season in 2009 saw him have limited action on the mound going 0-1 with a 7.82 ERA in nine appearances (onestart). He was able to strike out 18 batters and walked eight in 12.2 innings of work. He spent the summer of 2009 in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Falmouth Commodores. He appeared in eight games going 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA. He did continue to show his talent at throwing strikes as he struck out 22 while walking only five in 16.1 innings of relief over the summer.
Garvin became a force during his sophomore season working primarily out of the bullpen. He made 13 appearances (2 starts) going 1-1 with a stellar 1.25 ERA and a save in 36 innings. He continued his high strikeout totals with 38 batters on the year. He again spent the summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League but this time with the Bourne Braves. He had one of the best years on the Cape making six starts as he went  5-0 with a 0.74 ERA in 36.2 innings pitched. He was named to the Cape Cod All-Star Game where he pitched a scoreless second inning for the Western Division. He was also named the BFC Whitehouse Pitcher of the Year in the Cape Cod Baseball League for his outstanding season. Baseball America named him the 28th best prospect in the league while Frankie Pilere of Fanhouse.com ranked him the 28th best prospect in the 2011 MLB Draft.
