UNC”s Brian Goodwin Suspended for 2011 Season
UNC star outfielder Brian Goodwin has been suspended for the 2011 season for violating university policy. Last season, Goodwin played in 60 games hitting .291 with seven homers and 61 RBI. He played this past summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Harwich Mariners where he led the team in hitting with a .281 average with a homer and driving in 29 runs. Lou Spry named Wilbur Snypp Award Winner

Holy Cross releases 2011 Schedule

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross baseball team has released its 2011 schedule, announced by athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. and head coach Greg DiCenzo. The squad will play in 51 total games starting with a trip to Baton Rouge, La., to compete against the program’s first-ever SEC opponent, Louisiana State, from Feb. 25-27. Top 100 Countdown: 61. Paul Hoilman (ETSU)
College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the countdown today at number 61 with East Tennessee State senior first baseman Paul Hoilman. The Johnson City Tennessee native had a standout career at Science Hill High School. As a junior, he went 10-1 with a 2.48 ERA while hitting .468 with 9 home runs and 45 RBIs.
New Orleans releases 2011 Schedule

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans baseball team will play 12 games against 2010 NCAA tournament teams as part of a tough 54-game schedule in 2011, head coach Bruce Peddie announced on Wednesday morning.
Highlighting the 12 games against 2010 tournament qualifiers is an in-season home-and-home against LSU. UNO will travel to Alex Box Stadium on Feb. 22 before hosting the Tigers at Maestri Field on May 17. Read the rest of this entry »
Elon releases 2011 Schedule

ELON, N.C. — Riding a three-year streak of NCAA Regional appearances, Mike Kennedy’s Elon Phoenix baseball squad has announced its slate of games for the 2011 season. The Phoenix is scheduled to play 12 games against teams that participated in the 2010 NCAA Regionals, including a two-game set at Clemson which advanced to the College World Series last season. CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi baseball team will play host to 26 contests – nine at Whataburger Field, including a home matchup against Texas on April 5, as part of its 2011 schedule, head coach Scott Malone announced today. North Shore Navigators to host 2011 NECBL All-Star Game

Lynn, Mass. – Fraser Field and the Navigators will play host to the NECBL’s 2011 ALl Star Game in July. This is the first time that the Navs and Lynn will host the league’s mid-season classic.
The NECBL is home to some of the premiere collegiate, pro-prospects from around the country, and is sponsored in part by Major League Baseball.
Current Major Leaguers who played in the NECBL include: Stephen Strasburg, Andre Ethier, Joe Nathan, Andy Sonastine, and Andrew Bailey.
Dartmouth releases 2011 Schedule

Head Coach Bob Whalen today announced the team’s 2011 40-game baseball schedule, 13 of which will be held at Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park.
The Big Green will open the campaign in Orlando, as the University of Central Florida will entertain Dartmouth for a three-game series March 4-6, marking the first meeting between the two schools. NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame baseball team’s 2011 schedule, recently finalized and approved for release, will include early-season trips to Florida, Washington, South Carolina, North Carolina and Texas along with BIG EAST road series at Pittsburgh, St. John’s, Rutgers and Louisville.
