Barret Loux signs with the Texas Rangers

On Friday, Barret Loux formerly of Texas A&M signed a free agent contract with the Texas Rangers. He was selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Loux ended up coming to an agreement with the D-Backs for over 2 million dollars but ended up failing his physical due to shoulder issues that were discovered during the examination. The D-Backs refused to negotiate with Loux anymore after this discovery. Read the rest of this entry »

We haven’t decided yet if we are going to make it a free publication or charge for access. I know most of our readers do not like to be paying for access to college baseball information but there is a ton of information that will be included from conference previews for every conference to our preseason All-American teams. Centenary Baseball Visits Shriners Hospital

Hofstra Baseball Participates in Community Raking Day

On Saturday, November 13, members of the Hofstra Baseball and Wrestling teams participated in the Shake and Rake program, sponsored by the Office of Off-Campus Living and Commuting Student Services.

Over 40 student-athletes and coaches visited 13 homes in the Hempstead and Uniondale communities to provide yard work assistance to local residents. In total, approximately 60 students volunteered for the event, including members of Alpha Kappa Psi and Phi Delta Theta. Read the rest of this entry »

UC-Riverside releases 2011 Schedule

The UC Riverside 2011 baseball schedule, released today by Head Coach Doug Smith, continues the Highlanders tradition of playing one of the most difficult schedules in the nation.

It features 10 games against 2010 NCAA Tournament participants including two vs. College World Series paricipants from a year ago in UCLA (Tuesday, April 5 at the Riverside Sports Complex) and Arizona State. Read the rest of this entry »

Top 100 Countdown: 59. Matt Skole (Georgia Tech)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 59 with Georgia Tech junior third baseman Matt Skole. He is a 6’4 218 power hitting left handed hitter. Skole is a Woodstock, Georgia native and attended Blessed Trinity Catholic High School where he picked up three letters. He picked up several awards including being named the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s 2008 Hitter of the Year, Fulton County Player of the Year in 2008, member of the All-Fulton County baseball team in 2007 and 2008, and All-state selection by the Atlanta Dugout Club in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Franklin Pierce heading to Dominican Republic

Western Illinois releases 2011 Schedule

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois head baseball coach Mike Villano announced the 2011 baseball schedule, Thursday, Nov. 18.

The Fighting Leathernecks will face four opponents who participated in the 2010 NCAA Baseball Tournament. They include Kansas State, which finished third in the Big XII a season ago, Atlantic 10 champion Saint Louis University, Summit League opponent Oral Roberts and Illinois State University. Top 100 Countdown: 60. Matty Ott (LSU)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 60 with LSU junior RHP Matty Ott. The Chamette, Louisiana native played his interscholastic days at Holy Cross High School where he has a great senior year which saw him go 9-2 with a 1.97 ERA, 16 walks and 87 strikeouts in 67.2 innings. He picked up several awards in 2008 including: LSWA All State First Team Class 4A, New Orleans Times Picayune All Metro Team, MVP of District 9-4A and was selected to play in 2008 LHSCA All-Star Game. Hawaii to join Big West Conference?

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser is reporting that the Hawaii Warriors will likely join the Big West Conference in all sports except football where they will join the Mountain West Conference. This move is extremely interesting as the Warriors have been one of the stronger programs in the WAC conference in the last five years making multiple runs into the NCAA Tournament.
