SEC Game of the Week to be Broadcast on ESPNU

ESPN announced this via a press release on Wednesday afternoon. Here is the complete schedule:

Ole Miss Athletic Director Pat Boone posted multiple tweets on Tuesday afternoon announcing an SEC Baseball Game of the Week on Thursday nights. The tweets posted stated that the SEC will have seven games broadcast on ESPNU with Ole Miss hosting Mississippi State for one of them and heading on the road to face Auburn in the Rebels other appearance. Miami (FL) releases 2011 Schedule

Renovations Completed at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – Jack Coombs Field, home to Duke University baseball since 1931, has undergone significant upgrades to the playing surface and field layout that were completed over the weekend.

Now covering the entire field is a state-of-the-art synthetic turf installed by AstroTurf. The AstroTurf GameDay Grass 3D60H will allow Duke year-round playability on its home field along with low maintenance and an improved drainage system. Read the rest of this entry »

Cal’s Eric Jaffe to UCLA?

UPDATED AT 2:30 AM ON NOVEMBER 24th

Update #1: I have been able to confirm with an independent source that Eric Jaffe will be transferring to UCLA pending a waiver from the NCAA to be eligible this season.

According to a tweet from Keith Law of ESPN.com, Cal freshman RHP/1B Eric Jaffe is likely transferring to UCLA at the end of the semester. The Oakland (CA) native was selected in the 19th round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox out of Bishop O’Dowd High School. This move by UCLA adds a potent bat and an impact pitcher for the next three seasons. He will need a waiver from the NCAA to be eligible this season which is not out of the question.  Read the rest of this entry »

Seton Hall releases 2011 Schedule

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall baseball team has announced their schedule for the 2011 season.

The Pirates will open the year with 13-straight road games including the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge, a trip to Chapel Hill for three-games against North Carolina, and a spring break trip to Florida where they will face Florida International, Florida Atlantic, and a neutral site game against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. Former Memphis Baseball Coach Al Brown Passes Away

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – James Allison “Al” Brown, who served the University of Memphis for over 25 years, both as the baseball head coach and M-Club Executive Director, passed away Monday afternoon.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Al Brown was a standout left-handed pitcher at Memphis Central High School, before lettering for then-Memphis State College from 1947-48. After his collegiate career, Brown went on to play professionally in the Chicago White Sox minor league system. After his playing days were over, Brown served as a part-time baseball scout for the White Sox organization until 1978. Read the rest of this entry »

Two ULM Players Accused of Rape

Shelby Esters Aulds and Kendall Scott Thamm both members of the University of Louisiana-Monroe baseball team have been booked on aggrevated rape charges according to a report from KTBS.com. Top 100 Countdown: 58. Brad Miller (Clemson)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 58 with Clemson shortstop Brad Miller. He is from Windermere Florida and attended from Olympia High School. As a junior in high school, he hit .420 with a .560 on-base percentage, six homers, and 31 RBIs. He was honored as first-team All-Central Florida for his seasons. Before the 2008 MLB Draft, he was ranked the 17th best prospect in the state of Florida by Perfect Game. Miller was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 39th round before deciding to attend Clemson.
