Top 100 Countdown: 74. Jordan Ribera (Fresno State)

We continue the countdown today at number 74 with Jordan Ribera of Fresno State. He’s actually from Fresno, CA, where he attended Clovis West High School where he set a school record with 13 home runs during his Senior campaign. He was also the team captain for 3 seasons.

One Year Scholarship Rule Under Review

NCAALogoDarren Heitner of The Sports Agent Blog brought to my attention the case of Joseph Agnew against the NCAA that was filed in the Northern District of California in San Francisco. Agnew was a member of the Rice football program but his scholarship was not renewed for his senior season. Earlier this year, the US Department of Justice said they would look at the rule with special attention being shown by the department’s antitrust division.  The rule could be considered as an anticompetitive restraint and basically a price-fixing agreement.

Maryland looking to improve in 2011

The Maryland Terrapins struggled last season to a 17-39 overall record and went 5-25 in the ACC under first year head coach Erik Bakich. The Terps will be a new team though in the 2011 season as they will welcome 22 newcomers as the class was rated 25th by Baseball America (LINK).

Wofford releases 2011 Schedule

WoffordScheduleReleasesSPARTANBURG, SC – Wofford College announced the 2011 baseball schedule today, which is highlighted by a home games against Harvard, Pittsburgh and a home-and-home series with 2010 National Champion South Carolina. Road trips to Clemson and Duke are also on the slate for head coach Todd Interdonato and his squad.

The Citadel releases 2011 Schedule; David Beckley Promoted

TheCitadel2011ScheduleCharleston, S.C. – The Citadel baseball team released their schedule for the 2011 season on Monday. The Bulldogs will host 35 games at Riley Park this season, including 20 of their first 21 contests of the season.

“We have another demanding non-conference schedule this upcoming season, a bulk of which we will play at home early,” said Head Coach Fred Jordan. “The Southern Conference schedule gets tougher each year and will start earlier this season for us.”

Top 100 Countdown: 75. Taylor Featherston (TCU)

We continue the countdown today at number 75 with Taylor Featherston. He comes from Katy, Texas where he attended Taylor High School. He was a three year letter winner and was rated the 28th best prospect in Texas by Baseball America.

Top 100 Countdown: 76. Kyle Hansen (St. John’s)

We continue the countdown today at number 76 with Kyle Hansen from St. John’s. He is listed as a 6’7 195 pound sophomore righthanded pitcher out of Glen Cove New York and attended St. Dominic for high school. He was a two year letterwinner for the Bayhawks where he was named All-State and All-League in both seasons. The Milwaukee Brewers selected him in the 40th round (1,216 overall) in the 2009 MLB Draft but were not able to come to terms with him.
