SEC Game of the Week to be Broadcast on ESPNU

ESPN announced this via a press release on Wednesday afternoon. Here is the complete schedule:

Apr 14 7:30 p.m. Tennessee at Alabama
Apr 21 7:30 p.m. Ole Miss at Auburn
Apr 28 7:30 p.m. Kentucky at LSU
May 5 7:30 p.m. Florida at Arkansas
May 12 7:30 p.m. Mississippi State at Ole Miss
May 19 7:30 p.m. Vanderbilt at Georgia

Ole Miss Athletic Director Pat Boone posted multiple tweets on Tuesday afternoon announcing an SEC Baseball Game of the Week on Thursday nights. The tweets posted stated that the SEC will have seven games broadcast on ESPNU with Ole Miss hosting Mississippi State for one of them and heading on the road to face Auburn in the Rebels other appearance. The Thursday night starts will conclude on Sat. Very little additional missed classes. Our baseball team has a very good APR

This is a huge move by ESPN to give the SEC a national game of the week for seven weeks during the conference season. We can only hope that other conferences across the country get similar deals with big time national networks in the coming years. There is no other sports network right now in the same category as ESPN so no conference can be as good as the TV contract that the SEC will have this upcoming season.

This contract is with the SEC maybe the ACC will step up their game.
