The UC Riverside 2011 baseball schedule, released today by Head Coach Doug Smith, continues the Highlanders tradition of playing one of the most difficult schedules in the nation.
It features 10 games against 2010 NCAA Tournament participants including two vs. College World Series paricipants from a year ago in UCLA (Tuesday, April 5 at the Riverside Sports Complex) and Arizona State.
Highlanders fans will have their first opportunity to see the 2010 squad in action on Saturday, February 12 at the Riverside Sports Complex for the annual UCR Alumni Game. The regular season gets underway later that week with a four-game series against Loyola Marymount. The Lions host UCR on Friday, February 18 and Sunday February 20, while the Highlanders host LMU in a Saturday, February 19 double header.
UC Riverside also hosts USC in a single game on Tuesday, February 22, Saint Mary’s for a three-game set from March 18-20 and CSU Bakersfield for an April 21-23 series.
Other NCAA Tournament teams on the Highlanders’ schedule include a home and home series against San Diego (at Riverside, Tuesday March 1 and at San DIego on Tuesday, May 10) and three-game home series against Big West foes Cal State Fullerton (May 6-8) and UC Irvine (May 20-22).
Conference play begins on April 1 with a three-game road trip to Cal Poly. In addition to the Big West home series against the Titans and Anteaters, the Highlanders host Pacific (April 8-10) and UC Santa Barbara (April 29-May 1). The regular season concludes with a series at UC Davis (May 27-29).
