BrownHomePlatePROVIDENCE, R.I. – The World Series may have ended last night, but the collegiate baseball season is just around the corner. Brown head baseball coach Marek Drabinski has announced the 18 different opponents and 44 games that the Bears will play beginning on Friday, March 4 at Vanderbilt.

Brown’s season begins on the road with a three game set on March 4-6 against the Commodores in Nashville, Tenn. The Bears continue its tough, season-opening slate with a road trip to perennial powerhouse Texas on March 11-13.

“Our first couple of weekends will provide a great measuring stick for our team,” said coach Drabinski. “We’ll be able to compete against two of the best programs in all of college baseball.  It should be a great experience for our team and prepare us well for conference play.”

During spring break, Brown will travel to northern California to take on Santa Clara and San Jose State with six games in five days from March 26-30.

Ivy League play begins the weekend of April 2nd, with doubleheaders at Lou Gehrig Division foes Princeton and Cornell.

The Bears will make their Murray Stadium debut with a mid-week home game versus Quinnipiac on Tuesday, April 5.  The following day the squad will travel to Siena for a doubleheader.

The second weekend of Ivy play brings Columbia and Penn to Providence for doubleheaders on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10.

Midweek games versus Marist and at UConn precede the beginning of Rolfe Division play when the Harvard Crimson come to Brown for a four game series, on April 16 and 17.

The Bears will travel to Holy Cross for a doubleheader on April 20, before heading to Hanover, N.H. for a series with defending Ivy Champion Dartmouth.

Final mid-week games against Rhode Island and Bryant will lead up to the last Ivy weekend of the season in a home-and-home doubleheader series against Yale on April 28 and 29.

I haven’t seen Brown in two or three years. The kids play with great passion which is the most important thing.rnSent on the Sprintu00ae Now Network from my BlackBerryu00ae
