CharlestonSouthernBaseballCHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern baseball program and Head Coach Stuart Lake have announced 11 new additions to the team for the 2011 season. Included in the class are six players from the Palmetto State, two from North Carolina, and one each from Georgia, Virginia and California.

“Our assistant coaches, Charles Assey, Sid Fallaw and Jamie Rabon, along with our student assistant J.J. Reilly, all played tremendous roles in the recruiting efforts of these newcomers,” said Lake. “They have continued working hard and are already looking to our next group of recruits.”

A full list of the incoming players can be found below.

Lake also announced his captains for the 2010-11 season, with senior first baseman Nick Chinners and senior outfielder Tom Burkett earning the spot for their leadership based on the vote of the players and coaches.

Brantley Meier, a senior outfielder, was selected by his teammates to wear the number 23 jersey in honor of former Buccaneer Grant Ringenberg, based on Meier’s representation of CSU baseball on and off the field.

The final announcement from the program is the addition of Rabon and Blake Brown to the coaching staff. Rabon is a 2007 graduate of Southern Weslyan and comes to CSU from Wofford where he worked with the infielders and assisted with hitting for the Terriers.

Brown, a Holly Hill, S.C., native, is a 2010 graduate of Holly Hill Academy, where he lettered in varsity baseball under Coach Matt Brownlee. Brown will assist with the day-to-day operations of the program, as well as helping with field maintenance and equipment for the Buccaneers.
