January 25, 2010; Baseball Mugs and staged shots 2010 seniorsThe CBB continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 74 with Jordan Ribera of Fresno State. He’s actually from Fresno, CA, where he attended Clovis West High School where he set a school record with 13 home runs during his Senior campaign. He was also the team captain for 3 seasons.

Jordan Ribera came onto the scene in 2008 during the College World Series with home runs against Rice and Georgia, appearing in 43 games over his Freshman campaign while making 16 starts at Designated Hitter. That success in 2008 didn’t lead to increased playing time in 2009 as he only appeared in 34 games (16 starts), but hit two game winning home runs in the WAC Tournament and was named WAC Tournament MVP.

2010 was a breakout season for Ribera as he led the country in home runs with 27 while driving in 69 while hitting .343 with an OPS of 1.168 as the Bulldogs everyday First Baseman. Based on numbers alone Ribera looks like he would have been a high 2010 draft pick, yet went undrafted in the 2010 MLB Draft. He continued his torrid pace with Yarmouth-Dennis  Red Sox of the Cape Cod League, leading the league with 7 home runs (and also 3 in the postseason) and 26 RBI, leading the Red Sox to the championship series.
