Tennessee Baseball Participates in Light the Night Walk

LightTheNightKNOXVILLE, Tenn. - For the fourth straight year, the University of Tennessee baseball team participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk Thursday evening at Circle Park on the UT campus. Since becoming involved with the event in 2007, the Volunteers have now helped to raise nearly $30,000, including over $5,000 this year, in support of research into the treatment and prevention of cancer.

UT head coach Todd Raleigh, his staff and the entire Vol baseball team participated in Thursday’s event, which is the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of patients battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost. Raleigh walked in honor of his oldest brother, John Raleigh III, who he lost to Hodgkin’s disease at the age of 19.

Top 100 Countdown: 83. Cameron Seitzer (Oklahoma)

We continue the countdown today at number 83 with Oklahoma junior infielder Cameron Seitzer. He is a 6-4 and 210 pounds from Overland Park, Kansas and attended Blue Valley West High School. In high school he was a three-year letterwinner under head coach Bill McDonald. As a senior, he hit. 432 with 24 RBIs, 14 doubles and three homers while being named first team all-state, first team all-metro and all-conference in 2008. He had a career .520 batting average with 87 RBIs, 39 doubles and 10 homers.

Western Kentucky releases 2011 Schedule

WKUStadiumBOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Western Kentucky University baseball team and head coach Chris Finwood announced the scheduled for the 2011 season Friday. Highlighting the slate are a total of 19 games against teams that made the NCAA tournament last year, including three-game home series against Louisiana-Lafayette and Florida Atlantic, along with home-and-home series with Vanderbilt and Louisville.

In all, 10 teams on the 2011 schedule appeared in the NCAA tournament last season.

Columbia releases 2011 Schedule

JasonBanosColumbiaNEW YORK – Columbia’s 2011 baseball schedule is set and the Lions will christen the newly revitalized Robertson Field at Satow Stadium with 17 home games over nine days this spring.

The Lions will open the season at the Bright House Stetson Invitational in DeLand, Fla.  Columbia will face off against the host Hatters in the season opener on March 4.

Navy releases 2011 Schedule

PaulKostacopoulosNavyANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy baseball head coach Paul Kostacopoulos has released the 2011 schedule, a slate that includes 23 home dates for the Midshipmen. In all the Mids will play 54 games in 2011, including 15 doubleheaders.

The Midshipmen will open the season on Feb. 18, 2011 when they start a three-game series with Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. Navy’s home opener will be March 2 at 2 p.m. against Coppin State.

We continue the countdown today at number 84 with sophomore RHP Kurt Heyer from Arizona. He is 6’2 and 196 pounds from Huntington Beach California and attended Edison High School where he played under Steve Lambright. As a senior, he had an 11-3 record with a 0.84 ERA with 116 strikeouts in 100 innings bringing the team to the CIF Championship game against Capistrano Valley. He picked up several awards including being named All-CIF First Team, 2009 EA Sports Second Team All-American and a league Pitcher of the Year.

Cal Poly releases 2011 Schedule

CalPolyScheduleSAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Cal Poly’s 2011 baseball schedule, released Thursday by head coach Larry Lee and director of athletics Alison Cone, features 14 games against 2010 NCAA playoff teams, five against Pac-10 schools and out-of-region trips to Oklahoma State and Minnesota for three-game series.

Lee opens his ninth season at the helm of the Mustang baseball program by competing in a tournament hosted by Southern California, playing North Carolina on Feb. 18, Missouri on Feb. 19 and the host Trojans on Feb. 20.

Georgia Tech releases 2011 Schedule

DannyHallGTATLANTA - Highlighted by eight home weekend series, Georgia Tech baseball head coach Danny Hall announced Thursday the 2011 schedule consisting of 56 regular season games.

The Yellow Jackets will face nine opponents that participated in the 2010 NCAA Tournament, opening with Mid-American Conference Tournament Champion Kent State for a three-game weekend series, Feb. 18-20, at Russ Chandler Stadium. Tech will play six of those nine teams at home on the Flats.

Purdue releases 2011 Schedule

The Boilermakers host Michigan (April 8-10), Indiana (April 29-May 1), Illinois (May 13-15) and Iowa (May 19-21) for three-game Big Ten Conference series at Lambert Field.

UNC releases 2011 Schedule

LeviMichaelUNCCHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For just the second time since 2001 the North Carolina baseball team will open their season on the road when they travel to Los Angeles, Calif. for the USC Tournament, Feb. 18-20, as the 2011 baseball schedule was announced Thursday. The Tar Heels will host 34 games at Boshamer Stadium and face another daunting schedule that features 28 games against teams that advanced to the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
