2010 All Sports Photo Day 2:</p> <p>Sherman Johnson, BaseballThe CBB continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 95 with Florida State junior infielder Sherman Johnson. He is from Alonso High School and from Tampa Florida. He had an outstanding career in high school which saw him play all four years including being named All-County as a junior and senior.

Sherman decided to continue his academic career at Florida State and decided to walk-on with the baseball program where he was able to secure a spot. He appeared in 28 games as a freshman as he had 28 at bats batting .476. After his freshman season, he played in the Valley League with the Covington Lumberjacks. He hit .310 in 46 games as he help lead the Lumberjacks to the Valley League Championship. He was named to the Valley League All-Star game and Mid-Atlantic All-Star game.ShermanJohnsonFSUCBT

Johnson had a breakout season in 2010 as he started all 68 games as he finished second on the team with a .337 average while hitting 10 homers and driving in 58 runs as the everyday third baseman. He was also solid on the bases as he stole seven bases in ten attempts. He did struggle with his defense as he made 10 errors over at the hot corner. He returned to the Valley League in the summer of 2010 as he appeared in 22 games with a .267 batting average while stealing seven bases in nine attempts.

You neglected to mention that he got a grand slam in the first collegiate at bat. How many players can say that?
