The CBB continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the countdown today at number 96 with Florida Atlantic senior Andy Mee. He is 6’0 190 pounds two-way player from Palm Beach Gardens Florida where he attended Palm Beach Gardens High School where he was a four year letterwinner and the team MVP.
He spent his first two seasons of intercollegiate baseball at Sante Fe College where he was named the team MVP in both seasons. In 2009, he helped lead the team to the Florida State championship and a runner-up finish in the junior college national tournament. For his career, Mee is the SFC record holder for doubles (35), at bats (402), hits (169), is tied for first in career RBI (106) with teammate Trace Venegas and Matt Armstrong (2001-02) and is second in runs scored (99) behind teammate Tyler Cook (113).
Andy decided to transfer to Florida Atlantic to continue his college baseball career and did not disappoint in 2010. He led the Florida Atlantic squad in hitting with a .378 average with eight homers and 55 RBI starting all 61 games on the year. He also saw time on the mound serving as the team’s closer as he went 1-2 with nine saves and an ERA of 2.96. He struck out 22 batters in 24.2 innings of work. He was named second team All-American by the NCBWA for his performance. He spent the summer of 2010 with the Mat-su Miners of the Alskan Baseball League where he hit .337 with 19 RBI in 26 games.

Hey Brian, great pick. You didn’t mention in the article that he played in Alaska in 2010 (though I see you have him tagged as such) and he was really, really impressive. I’m still polishing up my scouting report on the guy but he absolutely raked with the wood. Plus range and athleticism in the outfield, and (obviously, as a pitcher) he had a cannon from RF. If I remember correctly he had some really nice cut on his fastball, but I’d have to check my notes to be sure. nnIt will be interesting to see which way he’d go, pitcher or batter, if he jumps to the pros but I think he was a great right fielder for the Mat-Su Miners. They did use him in relief but he seemed to be moving more to the offensive role where he did an excellent job. For what it’s worth, I’ll be sure to link this article up from my blog, and I have a batter scouting video of Mee that’s available via the blog or YouTube if you or your readers are interested.nnAnyhow, glad to see Andy Mee get some press because I’m really high on the kid but he seems to be under the radar.
I couldn’t find any stats on him in the Alaskan League, if you know where to find them, I will add them in!
