JohnPawlowskiAuburn Auburn baseball coach John Pawlowski, who directed Auburn to its first Southeastern Conference Western Division title in 15 years in 2010, has been rewarded with a two-year contract extension through 2015, announced Director of Athletics Jay Jacobs.

“We’re very appreciative of what John and his staff have done with the baseball program since their arrival at Auburn,” Jacobs said. “Winning the SEC West and hosting an NCAA Regional certainly made this past season a memorable one, and we look forward to them continuing to build off the success they have achieved.”

In 2010, Pawlowski led the Tigers to a 43-21 mark, a top 25 finish for the first time since 2003 and a NCAA host regional site. The 43 wins were the seventh most in school history and the 20-10 SEC record was the best in school-history.

“I want to thank Dr. Gogue and Jay Jacobs for this opportunity here at Auburn University and with our baseball program. Our staff will continue to work and build a program that we all can be proud of both on and off the field and in the classroom,” Pawlowski said. “Winning the West and having the opportunity to not only participate in but to host a NCAA Regional last year will certainly help us as we prepare for the 2011 season and beyond.”

Along with winning the division title and hosting a regional for just the fourth time in school history, Pawlowski and his staff had 11 players drafted in the 2010 MLB Draft, the most ever from Auburn in a single season and tied for the most nationally this season.

In two seasons at Auburn, Pawlowski has amassed a 74-46 (.617) record.

In 11 years as a head coach (two at Auburn, nine at the College of Charleston), Pawlowski is 412-238-1 (.634) and has taken a total of four teams to the NCAA Tournament, winning the 2005 Lexington Regional while at Charleston
