I left Omaha on June 23rd with the CWS still going on as I had to get back to reality. As I walked out of Rosenblatt for the last time on June 22nd after the decision to suspend the Clemson and Oklahoma game was made, I thought that I was going to see the facility again. I knew the stadium was closing after the season was over but it never actually hit me until I saw the South Carolina Gamecocks celebrating the national championship on June 29th that I would never see the stadium again.

Yes, Rosenblatt needed some major facility upgrades just like Fenway Park does but it is time to see the stadium go as fan comfort was lacking at the old ballyard on the hill and it was very tough to negotiate the concourses for myself after a game as I rushed to the Hall of Fame room.

The one memory that I will remember is Jana Howser who was doing a press conference for the Dick Howser Award and she said that it was an honor to be in the presence of her father’s retired jersey which hangs in the Hall of Fame Room at Rosenblatt. She will never be able to say that again at the new stadium.
