Covey declines deal after Diabetes Diagnosis

Covey Dylan Covey was selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers but ended up having his plans change. Last Friday, when he was four days away from signing with the Brewers, he was diagnosed with Diabetes. He decided that he had to learn how to deal with the disease in college at the University of San Diego instead of dealing with it during a minor league baseball career.

The decision for Covey gives the Torero’s another ace in a long line of excellent pitchers including Brian Matusz and Kyle Blair. We should see how this decision by Covey affects his draft stock in a couple of years.
