As we reported on Sunday evening, LSU RHP Anthony Ranaudo has decided to head home from the Cape Cod Baseball League as he prepares to get an offer from the Boston Red Sox after being selected with the 39th overall selection. He had an excellent summer with the Brewster Whitecaps going 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 29.2 innings of work. Jackie Pepper of Comcast Sportsnet New England recently made a trek down to Brewster to speak with him. The interview ran on Wednesday evening on Comcast but was done sometime last week. Omaha, Neb. – Gerrit Cole (UCLA) worked six innings allowing one run and striking out seven as Team USA defeated Japan 4-1 Wednesday night at Rosenblatt Stadium in a friendly international game. With the win the Collegiate National Team (CNT) improves to 8-0 on the summer.
Papillion, Neb. – George Springer (Connecticut) collected two hits and drove in three runs, while Brett Monneyham (Stanford) scattered three hits over five innings to pace Team USA to an 8-4 win over the Omaha Diamond Spirit of the MINK League Tuesday night at E.A. Fricke Field. With the win the Collegiate National Team (CNT) improves to 7-0 on the summer.
