As we reported on Sunday evening, LSU RHP Anthony Ranaudo has decided to head home from the Cape Cod Baseball League as he prepares to get an offer from the Boston Red Sox after being selected with the 39th overall selection. He had an excellent summer with the Brewster Whitecaps going 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 29.2 innings of work. Jackie Pepper of Comcast Sportsnet New England recently made a trek down to Brewster to speak with him. The interview ran on Wednesday evening on Comcast but was done sometime last week. Cape League Top Performers for July 21st
Gerrit Cole leads Team USA to 4-1 win over Japan

Omaha, Neb. – Gerrit Cole (UCLA) worked six innings allowing one run and striking out seven as Team USA defeated Japan 4-1 Wednesday night at Rosenblatt Stadium in a friendly international game. With the win the Collegiate National Team (CNT) improves to 8-0 on the summer.
Cole (1-0) was impressive from the outset retiring nine of his first 10 batters with three strikeouts and allowed just one extra base hit on the night. Team USA’s bullpen was just as impressive as Sonny Gray (Vanderbilt) and Noe Ramirez (Cal State Fullerton) worked the final three innings allowing two hits with a pair of strikeouts. Ramirez recorded his team-best third save on CNT’s tour.
2010 Cape Cod All-Star Game Rosters Released
The marquee collegiate summer league all-star game will take place on July 28th from Fenway Park in Boston Massachusetts with the Cape Cod Baseball League All Star Game. The Cape Cod Baseball League recently announced the 2010 All-Star Game rosters which feature some of the best pro prospects for the 2011 MLB Draft. The College Baseball Blog will have a Live Blog from the game with TCBB Senior Writer Katherine Cornetta joining TCBB editor Brian Foley in covering the event. Kyle Parker Spurns Rockies Offer; Will Quarterback Tigers in 2010
Baseball America reported this morning that Kyle Parker turned down a $2.4 million offer from the Colorado Rockies to return to the Clemson Tiger football program. With about 3 1/2 weeks left before the signing deadline, the Rockies could still try and up the offer as negotiations are still ongoing. Parker, the 26th pick in the 2010 MLB Draft, threw for 2,526 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2009 as a Redshirt Freshman. Last season on the baseball field, Parker helped bring the Tigers to the 2010 College World Series by hitting .344 with 20 homers and 64 RBI.
Joe Holtmeyer taking on the Big Guns in Cape Cod Baseball League
The Omaha World Herald recently had a feature on Nebraska-Omaha RHP Joe Holtmeyer who is playing this summer with the Harwich Mariners where he has made five starts with a 1-1 record and a 2.76. He has been able to keep opponents off balance with 28 strikeouts in 29.1 innings of work and holding them to a .175 batting average against. He has been wild though walking ten batters, hitting three, and tossing eight wild pitches.

Papillion, Neb. – George Springer (Connecticut) collected two hits and drove in three runs, while Brett Monneyham (Stanford) scattered three hits over five innings to pace Team USA to an 8-4 win over the Omaha Diamond Spirit of the MINK League Tuesday night at E.A. Bryant Ward added to LMU Coaching Staff

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Head Coach Jason Gill added yet another face from his past to his coaching staff last week, announcing the hiring of Bryant Ward as an assistant coach. Gill, first-year assistant coach Ted Silva, and Ward all worked together in the Cal State Fullerton baseball program in 2005 and 2006. Most recently, Ward spent the last four seasons with the University of South Florida before heading back to Southern California for his current stint with LMU baseball.
Jordon Twohig added to Washington Coaching Staff

SEATTLE – Jordon Twohig, who led Ohlone College (Fremont, Calif.) to the California state junior college championship in 2010, has been named as an assistant coach at Washington, head coach Lindsay Meggs announced on Monday.
In May, Twohig wrapped up his second season as the head coach at Ohlone by winning the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) crown with a 16-10 win over the College of San Mateo in the title game.

Tony Vitello added to TCU Coaching Staff

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU baseball head coach Jim Schlossnagle announced the hiring of Tony Vitello as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator. Vitello comes to TCU after spending the last eight seasons as the recruiting coordinator at Missouri.
"We searched nationwide for the right fit for our program, and Tony clearly emerged as one of the nation’s most aggressive, hard-working and knowledgeable recruiters," said Schlossnagle. "He comes widely recommended and has been a major part of Missouri’s outstanding baseball program over the last several years."
